From the Desk of Fr. Chris We are winding down the liturgical year. Next week is Christ the King. In two weeks, Advent begins. The themes and images of the end of the old and beginning of the new years are the same the culmination when God is all in all. So, for the next few weeks we ll have a lot of wild and crazy apocalyptic imagery, as we have from Daniel and Mark. It s always good to remember not to get so lost in the images that we can t see the forest for the trees it is Good News. Alan Culpepper gives us a lens through which to read these types of passages, The gospel offers not a way of predicting the end of the world but the spiritual resources to cope with adversity and hardship. In times of distress, "do not be terrified." The message is that every person is living in a time of stress, as each person in every preceding generation, so stick with Jesus. He will get you through all the way to the end. And, by the way, that end is going to be great! Fr. Chris We welcome all who are visiting our Corpus Christi Faith Community for the first time or are frequent visitors. We are honored by your presence. If we can be of service to you, please do not hesitate to call on us. If you would like to become a member of our Parish, please complete one of the Registration forms located in the Parish Office, at the Community Center Bulletin Board, or on our website at www.cccctucson.org Prayer Chain If you would like to be a part of the Prayer Chain, or have a prayer request, all that s required is to have a computer with internet access, an email address, a compassionate heart, and willingness to pray for others (no phone trees). For more information contact Lyn Diehl at 751-4235 or prayerchain@cccctucson.org Corpus Christi Has Gluten-Free Hosts For those who wish to receive Gluten-Free hosts at Communion, we have them available at all Masses. To receive them, please come down the center aisle at the end of Communion and indicate to the Eucharistic Minister that you need the Gluten-Free host. Homebound Eucharist If you have a family member or know of a parishioner on the eastside of Tucson in need of having Eucharist brought to them regularly, please contact the Parish Office at 751-4235. BREAKING OPEN THE SCRIPTURE WITH FR. CHRIS Gatherings are on Friday mornings at 9:00am in Conference Room A/B. This is a free-flowing discussion of the Biblical texts led by Fr. Chris. Come in and check it out! All are welcome. * Please note: No gathering on Nov. 23. Masses for Thanksgiving are: Wed., Nov. 21 6:00pm Thurs., Nov. 22 8:00am Lord, you made a world full of goodness, Filled with beauty, love and nourishment. Now as we talk and eat and pray, We praise you Lord for Thanksgiving day. ATTENTION PARISH VOLUNTEERS If you are a volunteer in any of Corpus Christi s ministries you need to complete the Diocesan Safe Environment Annual Training program.
