This month marks the beginning of life without our long-term administrative assistant, Donna Wasserfallen. It will be very strange walking in Tuesday without Donna sitting at her desk. While I m excited that she is getting to retire and spend more time with Dave, I m sad knowing that I will be going it alone for the first time in my 2 years here. When I have a question, Donna can normally answer it before I get it out of my mouth. I m going to have to remember the numerous passwords and where the extra paperclips are stored and how to print on both sides. And the list goes on. I met Donna years ago when I was a wet-behind-the-ears local pastor and came to Wellsville UMC each year for my District interview. Each Fall and Spring when we have district interviews she s been there unlocking doors, turning on lights and providing breakfast and lunch. Next week we will be saying goodbye. Monday July 31 st is her last day of work. Sunday August 6, we will honor her for all her years of service. Please come to worship that day. Maybe bring a card noting a special memory of how she has helped you or a loved one. Stay after worship for cake and fellowship. Let s celebrate Donna s service to our congregation. And if you see me in the corner pouting, remind me that this is a good thing for Donna and Dave. God Speed Donna! And thank you! Love Kathy STEPHEN MINISTRY Stephen Ministers: The After People Pastors are like firefighters, rushing from one crisis to another to offer care. Stephen Ministers are volunteer lay caregivers trained in their congregations to provide high-quality, one-to-one, Christ-centered care to people going through difficult times in life. Stephen Ministers come into a person s life after a crisis listening, comforting, and caring for as long as needed. Involving laypeople in caring ministry frees pastors to focus on those areas of ministry they are uniquely qualified to do. Kathy Symes 913-669-6979 or Wellsville UMC at 785-883-2737 for a consultation. 3
