Like so many of us, we are preparing to celebrate the birth of Christ. As time goes on, it becomes more important to continue to spread the word about Keeping Christ in Christmas. The world is changing. It s up to us that it s changing for the better. Also, this time of the year is especially hard on the families of those who lost loved ones. Let s continue to pray for the families of our dear departed Knights, to help them get through this season of the year. Our Pastor and Chaplin, Father Ed, while being on the mend, still needs our prayers. This month we observe Pearl Harbor Day followed by the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. I want to take this opportunity to wish my Brother Knights and their families, A BLESSED AND JOYFUL CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY AND HEALTHY NEW YEAR! Vivat Jesus, Ed Visinski, Grand Knight

Nativity 2 nd and 3 rd Degree Exemplifications Sunday, November 5 th was a banner day for our Council. For the first time in our short history, we had the honor of hosting Exemplifications for other Councils besides ours at the Nativity of Our Lord Church. In fact, we hosted not one, but two Degrees, a 2 nd Degree (recently renamed the Formation Degree ) and a 3 rd Degree (now called the Knighthood Degree ). Two separate Degree teams participated, one for each Degree level, with one team member coming from as far away as Cumberland County, New Jersey. We had two of our Council members, Brothers Angelo D Attoma and Mathew Imbriani participating in the Formation Degree. Following that ceremony, both along with Brother Frank Budano, went on to receive their Knighthood Degree which started after a short break. In total, there were 13 applicants for the Formation Degree, and 25 applicants for the Knighthood Degree (including all applicants from the Formation Degree). The historic event was spearheaded by our Deputy Grand Knight, Brother Francis Macchiaroli who received high marks from the Degree team members. Supporting Brother Francis were Grand Knight Ed Visinski, Former District Deputy Joseph Sabella, current District Deputy Scott Williams, Past Grand Knight Paul Boccardi, along with Brothers Uni Udom, Rob Di Bella, Chris Murphy, Tony Cardello, Bob McGee, Dave Imbriani, Michael Imbriani, Sam Renda, Joe Tardo, Joe Bruno, Dick Rockosi, John Olexsak, Michael Cuddy, and Paul Pittari. Also in attendance were escorts from Councils having Brothers who were applicants for both Degrees. Following the Knighthood Degree, the attendees dined on stuffed shells with meatballs and sausage, salad, coffee, tea and a beautiful chocolate mousse cake with whipped cream served up by our great cooking team of Brothers Joe Tardo, Joe Bruno, Dick Rockosi and Rob Di Bella. At the conclusion of the event, members of the Degree teams remarked that Deputy Grand Knight Francis, and the Council, did a great job in organizing the Exemplifications, and based on this first entry into Degree ceremonies, they would highly recommend holding future Exemplifications at our Council. Peace, Brother Paul Pittari, SWORD Editor (See photos on pages 3, 4 and 5.) Continued on Page 3 December 2017 Newsletter - Page 2

Continued from Page 4 Council Christmas Party Hi At last month s Business Meeting, Grand Knight Visinski announced that the Council will be hosting our annual Christmas Party on Monday, December 18 th. There ll be plenty of good food served up by our cooking team. Plus, we ll have a DJ for your listening pleasure and to show off your latest dance moves. The event which is free of charge, is open to Council members and their significant others. (Sorry no friends or family members are invited.) We will extend invitations to the widows of our Council Brothers along with our clergy as guests. As always is the case, we need to get a head count on who is coming so we can prepare enough food and beverages. So, if you plan on coming, you need to contact our Event Coordinator, Brother Len Edson at lenedson@comcast.net to let him know that you, and possibly your significant other, will be attending. The deadline for responses is no later than Wednesday, December 13 th. The party starts at 6:30 PM sharp. There are no special seating arrangements, just sit wherever you feel comfortable. The tables will be setup eight persons to a table so you ll have plenty of elbow room. Hope to see you at the party. Brother Paul Pittari, SWORD Editor December 2017 Newsletter - Page 5

Upcoming Meeting Dates December 2017 Newsletter - Page 11 There was some question that our December 4 th Business Meeting might have to be held upstairs in the Church because the Nativity hall was scheduled to conduct Christmas gift wrapping on that evening. However, the gift wrapping session was moved to a different day, which opened the hall for our meeting. So, our next Business meeting will be held at its regular venue, downstairs in the Nativity s Father Congdon Hall on December 4 th at 7:30 PM preceded by the Officers Meeting at 6:30 PM. In other meeting news, our January 2018 Business Meeting is now scheduled for the 15 th, because the first Monday of the month (our usual Business Meeting date) coincides with New Year s Day. That also means there will be no Social Meeting in January because that would occur on the 15 th, the date of our rescheduled Business Meeting. One last change, the planned Comedy Night event originally set for May 11, 2018, has been rescheduled to the following day, Saturday, May 12 th at the request of the performer, Jimmy Tingle. December 2017 Newsletter - Page 11 We ll remind you of impending December date changes 2017 Newsletter in future issues - Page of 5 the SWORD. Brother Paul Pittari, SWORD Editor Christmas Party Help Our Christmas Social is in need of servers. We are looking for eight Brothers to help serve the meal prepared by our chefs. Please contact Brother Rob Di Bella (bankonus@aol.com) and let him know you can help. Also, ALL BROTHERS attending the Social will be responsible for helping with cleanup!!! Vivat Jesus, Ed Visinski, Grand Knight Food Pantry The December Food Pantry pick up will be at Nativity at 8 AM on Wednesday, December 13 th. Please contact John Vergano at 609-409-8285 if you can volunteer. I would like to thank all who have helped during the year to make someone else less fortunate than we to have a better life. With this knowledge, may you all have a Blessed Christmas. Thank You Brother John Vergano December 2017 Newsletter - Page 6

Veterans Appreciation Day On Thursday, November 9 th, a ceremony of patriotic appreciation for our veterans was conducted by the Friends of the Monroe Township Senior Center. Participating in the event were the Color Corps members from our Immaculate Conception Assembly. Over one hundred veterans were in attendance to receive honors. After the formal presentation of the flag by our Color Corps, the attendees recited the Pledge of Allegiance and sang the Star Spangled Banner. Along with Commander Joseph Sabella, our Color Corps contingent consisted of Sir Knights Joseph C. Schavio, Anthony Musnicki, Joseph Bruno, Kay Wilbur, John Vergano and Bill Werkmeister.
