Good News from St. Pius X/St. Leo School "St. Pius X / St. Leo School is a diverse community forming students in the Catholic faith to excel in academics and service to others." Destination Imagination is an international organization that emphasizes creativity, teamwork and problem-solving. Teams choose to solve one of the central challenges that they prepare for all season long. In addition to performing their central challenge, they solve an unknown, "instant" challenge the day of the competition. All 4 of our teams competed at the Regional Competition held in Blair on February 25th. Once again, SPSL did a great job at the tournament in Blair. The results from the Regional Competition held in Blair were as follows: 4th Grade Team competed in Project Outreach in the elementary level and placed 6th: Tiffani Herfordt and Molly Jones' Team: Josie Gorczyca, Annie Herfordt, Natalya Jones and Mary Wray 5th Grade Team placed 2nd in Top Secret in the elementary level: Becky App and Kim Ramsey's Team: Graham App, Tanner Kreifels, Gabe O'Doherty, Carter Ramold, Leo Ramsey, Daniel Rusch and Alex ten Bensel 6th Grade Team placed 2ndt in Project Outreach in the middle level: Bambi Sobetski's Team: Steven Bieber, Remi Cote', Evan Martin and Jasper Sobetski 7th Grade Team placed 6th in Show and Tech in the middle level: Kris Bope's Team: Michael Bope, Brian Onyango, Noah Peaslee and Charlie Shald The results from the State Finals in Kearney on April 8th were as follows: Tiffani Herfordt and Molly Jones' Team placed 11th in Show and Tech - Elementary Level. Becky App and Kim Ramsey's Team placed 4th in Top Secret - Elementary Level. Bambi Sobetski's Team placed 2nd in Project Outreach - Middle Level Congratulations to our Destination Imagination teams! This is such a fun opportunity for students to use their talents, knowledge, and creativity to solve complex challenges. A big thank you goes out to all of the team leaders and the appraisers who dedicated their time and energy into this worthwhile event! Many thanks also to Misty Banks Noon for coordinating the Destination Imagination program for SPSL School. Special Note: The school office will be closed at different times during the summer. When our office is open, our office hours during the day will be 9:00am until 4:00pm with time off for lunch. It s always wise, during the summer to call ahead to make sure we are in the office at the particular time you d like to come. Our school office number is 402-551- 6667. Interested in a Catholic education? Please call (402-551- 6667) to take a tour of St. Pius X / St. Leo School, your parish school. We have a new full-day program for pre-kindergarten 4-year old students. We also have a 3-year old pre-kindergarten program as well as all of the grades from kindergarten through grade 8. Laity in Liturgy Most Holy Trinity 2017 There is not a clearer example of the manner in which Catholics look for prophesy, instruction and mystery connected across the generations in Scripture than on the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. Exodus, Daniel, Second Corinthians and John introduce us to each face that makeup the entirety of our three person-ed God. Might, Love and Sacrifice are depicted in a culmination of how we characterize the mystery of our Lord. How should this affect prayer and praise? True to form for Catholicism there is not a simple or a single answer. When you take the shape of Moses and revel in wonder at the greatness of the Father you are exhibiting an important posture for the Mass. When you give of yourself in great and small ways, when you live the acts of mercy or administer charity to the less fortunate you demonstrate the mission and love of Christ to those around you. When you exist in harmony, compassion and show a face of Joy, you are moving with the Holy Spirit. Don t stop at Mass. Practice and reflect at Mass, then live. The Second Corinthians passage struck me most during this particular moment of Study. Mend your ways, agree with each other and live in peace. Drew Neneman Entrance Antiphon Blest be God the Father, and the Only Begotten Son of God, and also the Holy Spirit, for he has shown us his merciful love. Communion Antiphon Since you are children of God, God has sent into your hearts the Spirit of his Son, the Spirit who cries out: Abba, Father. Galatians 4:6 06 l St. Leo Catholic Church

In Pursuit of Life, Love and Happiness By: Deacon Jim Shipman You often see a sign or two at sporting events that read, John 3:16. You may also hear some biblical teacher quote that same scripture. It is a simple sentence, which is so profound on what it says that theologians have written volumes on this verse. The verse, God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life, is the beginning sentence of our Gospel today. That scripture begins to explain what we celebrate today as the Holy Trinity. Our little human minds cannot understand this mystery, that our one GOD is three persons, FATHER, SON, and HOLY SPIRIT. That God the Father reconciled the world to himself by giving us his Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, as the reparation for our sins and the sins of the world. Jesus Christ the incarnate visible form of God on earth, was the obedient Son of God. He was totally human and totally divine. He gave up his life for you and me so that we could have life and have it more abundantly. Our Lord Jesus also promised to send the Advocate or the Holy Spirit from the Father. Our God has given us the Holy Spirit so that we might be one with Him, just as the Father and the Son are one with each other. This Holy Spirit which is the outpouring of the love between the Father and the Son helps and guilds us with our understanding of God and our relationship with Him. We should allow the gifts that this third person of the Trinity has bestowed on us to blossom in our lives. This is the real key to living out our Christian faith. As Christians, it is imperative that we believe and begin to understand this bible verse: John 3:16. St. Leo Knights of Columbus Stleo.net/KoC/index.htm Matthew Gibbs joined our Knights of Columbus Council on May 21, 2017. Congratulations, Matt.
