While the major storm had passed the news had all kinds of pictures of downtown flooding and Tornado warnings in the North end of town. So as you can imagine the attendance at the Chapter meeting was very light. We will make it up at the June meeting as the voting delegates that were in attendance agreed to defer voting on business items to the June meeting. I did send out a Chapter Meeting Recap to the email group be sure to read it. Our Guest speaker for the June meeting will be Fr. Jonathan Raia, Diocese Vocation Director. I am happy to announce that we only need one more meeting date for the new Fraternal Year: January 26, 2016 Our Next Meeting will be June 29: St. Ignatius Martyr 126 W. Time, Talent & Treasure Requests A Chance to Make History Brother Knights, Since the founding of the Order in 1882, brothers and their wives and families from around the nation and around the world have come together in fellowship at each year s Supreme convention. And for 132 years, only those delegated by their state councils or those who can travel to the convention site at their own expense have been able to participate in this festive and prayerful gathering. This year, for the first time in history, you are invited to attend the celebratory States Dinner for the 133rd Supreme Convention, which will be held on the evening of August 4th, 2015 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. But you won t have to hop on a plane or drive for days to go to this gala event! All Knights and their families from the Austin Diocese are invited to a special Texas-style BBQ party at the Red Oak Ballroom of the Norris Conference Center where we ll join the States Dinner via live simulcast. No other state, no other Chapter, and no other council has ever done this before. This is a first. A Texas-sized first! Join Bishop Daniel Garcia, our local guest of honor, for a great meal of smoked brisket and turkey breast, traditional side dishes, iced tea, coffee, and dessert. Tickets for this great event are only $35 per person and councils can reserve tables for eight for just $100. But space is limited and these tickets will go fast. Make your paid reservation by June 15th. The earlier you get your paid registration in, the closer you will sit to Bishop Daniel. And then meet us at 6:00 p.m. on August 4th at the Red Oak Ballroom, just across the street from St. Louis King of France parish. This will be an exciting evening full of joy, shared wisdom, and a renewed sense of spiritual and fraternal connection to the whole Knights of Columbus. Let s come together for wonderful Texas food and fellowship and to make a lasting charitable contribution at the same time. The proceeds from this dinner will support our Knights of Columbus Texas State Charities. Best of all, every added $20 personal tax-deductible gift made at this event by individual Knights will also count as a credit against their council s annual State Charities contribution. This is a win-win opportunity for charity, the principle at the very heart of the Order s mission since our founding by the Venerable Michael J. McGivney. Don t miss this amazing chance to draw even closer to our brother Knights from around the United States and the entire world in the service of Our Lady and Her Divine Son! Vivat Jesus! Kevin A.
