Well the first annual March Good- Guys Spring Nationals was certainly a pleasant surprise. What a great turnout, 1800 + cars on Saturday. Good- Guys were hoping for more than 1200 as the cutoff for doing the show again next year. I m pretty sure it s locked in with the turnout we did get. So let s run it down from the start- Thursday; As best I can remember we had about 120 cars leave for the tour. Add a few more that left before the official group and maybe we had 130 cars. At the first stop they had made arrangements with all the business neighbors for parking, but the neighbors reneged and we had to scramble for parking. Hughes Performance was the lunch stop and they everything well organized with guided tours also. Baer Brakes next and I heard the homemade cookies were amazing. They also did guided tours there. Daryl Smith reported to me that he totally enjoyed the tour and the discussions with the people. Scotty at Steel Dreams wants to do a lunch or something next time. Charly s Garage was also very pleased with the tour; they had a nice set-up in the big West World tent also. And Drews. What can I say, what a host he and his staff are! Just amazing The Prez Sez food and plenty of project cars to check out. Neat key Rings cut on his new water jet table were given to everyone who came in the door. Friday; Busy, busier than expected and the field was still a bit damp. The new attraction Autocross made its debut on Friday and proved to be pretty popular. Saturday; Front gate was steady until noon, Special parking was busy and the cars just kept coming in. Sunday; Again this year the awards went very smooth. Monday; zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Thanks to my tour leaders Dave Bennett and Jim Stubert for the pre-runs and for managing the tour on Thursday. Thanks to the folks who got up extra early on Thursday for the TV shoot, and a special shout out to the Scottsdale Chapter for their assistance. Thanks to everyone for another outstanding effort! DA Prez
