All: We shall love the Lord with all our heart. One: Hear, O Israel: The Lord is our God. All: We shall love the Lord with all our soul. The Reverend Pen Peery Natalie Raygor *Hymn No. 63 The Lord Is God azmon

Large-print hymnals and Bibles are available. Please let an usher know if you would like one. Call to Confession Prayer of Confession Confession Natalie Raygor All: Holy God, you sent your only son to the world. We celebrate his birth, but then we ignore his teachings. Instead of inviting Jesus into our lives all the time, we invite him into our lives at Christmas. Instead of maintaining that relationship throughout the year, we send Jesus packing about this time of year. We don t want to live for Jesus; we just want Jesus to have lived and died for us. Forgive us for running from you. Thank you for not giving up on us, for loving us when we return to you, and for loving us when we don t. One: In silent prayer, let us confess to God the things we choose not to speak aloud. Assurance of Pardon One: Friends, believe the good news. All: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. A time of silence will be kept. Ellie is the daughter of James and Erin Stoll. *Response (Hymn No. 581) gloria patri Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, amen. Sacrament of Baptism Hymn No. 188 Sacrament of Baptism Eleanor Celeste Stoll jesus loves me Jesus loves me! This I know, for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to him belong. They are weak but he is strong. Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so. *Apostles Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen. Children in kindergarten and above are encouraged to remain in worship. Younger children may go to the nursery. *Hymn No. 63 1 The Lord is God, the Lord alone! Give honor, thanks, and praise to God, the maker of all things and giver of our days. 2 With all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and might, O people, love the Lord your God, the source of truth and light. The Lord Is God 3 At night or day, at home, away, together and apart, O children, take these holy words and keep them in your heart. 4 The Lord is God, the Lord alone! Give honor, thanks, and praise to God, the maker of all things and giver of our days. *Hymn No. 465 What a Friend We Have in Jesus 1 What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer! O what peace we often forfeit; O what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer! 2 Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged; Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness; 3 Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care? Precious Savior, still our refuge; Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer! In his arms he ll take and shield thee; thou wilt find a solace there. *Hymn No. 826 Lift High the Cross Lift high the cross, the love of Christ proclaim till all the world adore his sacred name. 1 Come, Christians, follow where our Savior trod, the Lamb victorious, Christ, the Son of God. (Refrain) 3 O Lord, once lifted on the glorious tree, your death has brought us life eternally. (Refrain) 4 So shall our song of triumph ever be: praise to the Crucified for victory. (Refrain) 2 All newborn servants of the Crucified bear on their brow the seal of Christ who died. (Refrain)
