THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, May the Lord give us His peace. On behalf of Fr. Joseph, Fr. Arthur, Deacon Bill and the entire staff of our Collaborative, we wish you a happy and blessed Thanksgiving. Taking time to give thanks to the Lord for prayers answered and for the abundant blessings we receive each day is so important. I think of our Blessed Mother at the Visitation ( My Soul Proclaims the greatness of the Lord ) and Psalm 136 ( Give thanks to the Lord for He is good, His love endures forever ) as beautiful reminders and examples of the need to give thanks. It s interesting to consider, that of the 10 lepers healed by Jesus in the Gospel of Luke, only one came back. Only ten percent of those healed took the time to come back and say thank you. May we strive to be a Ten Percenter! Here is a prayer from the Roman Missal that you may find helpful to pray as you dive into your Thanksgiving Day Feast: Father all-powerful, Your gifts of love are countless and your goodness infinite; as we come before you on Thanksgiving Day with gratitude for your kindness, open our hearts to have concern for every man, woman, and child, so that we may share your gifts in loving service. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. Your brother in Christ, Fr. Matt+ Weekly Collection Report; November 10 & 11, 2018 Envelopes $1755.00 Loose $1563.00 Total $3318.00 Monthly Parish Maintenance Collection: Envelopes $1131.00 Loose $780.00 Total $1911.00 Grand Annual Total to Date: $20,710.00 Our Grand Annual Goal is $50,000. This weekend the Archdiocese will take up the Collection for Retired Sisters. Please give generously in recognition of the Sisters years of dedicated service. Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time We are nearing the end of the Liturgical Year when the readings call us to think about the end times. Even though we don t know when death will come, it is not a time to be comfortable and complacent because "of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." Therefore, the time to be intentional about following Jesus is NOW, don t wait. St. Joseph s Food Pantry wishes to express sincere gratitude to Our Lady s Sodality for their generosity recently. The women have made a substantial donation to the pantry's efforts to provide a Thanksgiving meal to our neighbors in need. Also, they have donated a much needed New freezer for the pantry's use in storing food items. We appreciate the support and generosity.
