For more information, visit www.usccb.org/peters-pence. Frequently Asked Questions How do I register? All Catholics living in the Parish area and regularly participating in the liturgy are invited to register in the Parish. Church attendance alone does NOT make you and your family registered members. Registration is required for Baptism, First Communion, First Reconciliation, Confirmation, Marriage and Catholic Education programs. Adults 18and over need to be registered separately from their parents in order to get married, have their own children baptized, or be Godparents or Sponsors. In order to be a Godparent or Sponsor or to receive discounted tuition rates at Catholic Schools, one must be a registered Catholic and active in the parish, which is indicated by use of contribution envelopes or the Online Giving program. Registration forms can be filled out in the Parish Office or via our parish website. How do I have my child Baptized? Before scheduling the date, please call the Office for a welcoming conversation with the priest. A preparation class is also required for parents prior to the child s Baptism and are offered once a month. How do I request a Communion Call or Anointing of the Sick? Please call the parish office at 480-893-8770 DO NOT WAIT until someone is near death to have the person anointed! Although Anointing of the Sick was once known as Last Rites, waiting until a person is near death could risk that person not being able to receive the Sacrament if he or she should pass away prior to the priest being able to arrive. Anointing of the Sick can only be administered while the person is still alive. How do I get married in the Church? The Diocese of Phoenix requires a NINE MONTH marriage preparation process. John Deg, Director of Married Life Ministries, will meet with you to explain the process, including when you will meet with the Pastor to set a date. Do NOT set the date prior to this meeting as it cannot be guaranteed until then.

Corpus Christi Catholic Church www.corpuschristiphx.org Who We are Helping: College Students We will Ignite the Faith on College Campuses adult faith formation and have access to a priest. Most importantly, students are in environments that cultivate a deepening relationship with Jesus. Newman Centers are a vibrant home for Catholic students at public universities in our Diocese. With daily Mass, study, and community -building events, the work at Newman Centers help young people encounter Christ and live out their faith dynamically. The college years are the most formative years for young adults. Research tells us 80% of people who leave the faith do so by the age of 23. Studies also show that within 72 hours on a college campus, a majority of students have found the friends they will have for the next four years. In the Diocese of Phoenix, Catholic young adults have expressed a hunger for Christ, as our Newman Center programs are rapidly outgrowing their current buildings. The Together Let Us Go Forth ~ Juntos Sigamos Adelante campaign will provide opportunities for young adults to go deeper in their faith by strengthening and expanding the Newman Centers at Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University and Grand Canyon University. At each of these Newman Centers, the students have opportunities to attend daily Mass, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Confession, young 4 For example, every day at NAU, between 40-60 students attend daily Mass. This Easter, 12 students received the sacraments of initiation. Over the past semester, over 120 students experienced the Lumberjack Awakening retreat and over 210 students participated in weekly Bible studies! NAU serves over 4,000 Catholics on a campus of 21,000 students. The Holy Trinity Newman Center chapel cannot hold the number of students who attend Sunday

The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ June 18, 2017 Mass. In an effort to provide outreach to a growing student population, new, larger buildings are needed to be instruments in strengthening students relationship with God. the Together Let Us Go Forth ~ Juntos Sigamos Adelante campaign, every Catholic who attends Grand Canyon University will have the opportunity to engage their faith and fellow Catholics through a newly developed campus ministry building. Help College Students Truly Live Out Their Faith As our young adults leave home for the first time, let us ensure that they can encounter a strong and supportive Catholic faith community to call their own. Together, let us strengthen and empower our Newman Centers to help young people encounter the living Christ! At ASU, it is not uncommon to find 2,500 young adults attending weekend Masses from the 40,000 students who live on campus. A thriving campus ministry program has brought maximum participation to the All Saints Newman Center. This rapid growth has resulted in a need for expanding their facilities to a multi-level building adding much-needed facilities for classrooms and meeting space as well as a priest rectory. Grand Canyon University was founded as an evangelical protestant university. The Diocese has worked hard to forge strong relationships to assist GCU in meeting the spiritual needs of Catholics within their student body. Currently at GCU, however, Catholics do not have a permanent place to celebrate Mass or to invite students to come and meet other Catholics. With funding from 5 Please fill out and return your pledge card or visit togethergoforth.org/give to set up a secure credit card or bank account withdrawal pledge. Sessions focus on encountering Jesus through prayer and the teachings and experience of the Church. Individuals will be prepared to celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. We welcome you and your spouse or a friend to participate in the process with your questions, your insights and your faith story in a warm, accepting setting. The list will be reset the first Sunday of the month. 6 www.corpuschristiphx.org What s Your Story? As Catholics, we have a tendency to refrain from sharing about our personal relationship with God. However, this is something we feel needs to change! We believe sharing our faith with others and being witnesses to how God has worked in our lives, can only help to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ! In order to help facilitate this sharing, our bulletin will be featuring conversion stories and personal testimonies about how God has impacted our lives. We may also feature these stories on our parish website or through our email newsletter. The only way this can work is if YOU help by writing and providing to us your conversion stories! Email to christi.deg@corpuschristiphx.org and please keep it between 1000-2,000 words in length. Also, if you have any pictures to go along with the story (either images of you, your family, or of things related to your story) please include those as well. We truly look forward to learning more about one another, our faith, and the goodness God gives to all of us! Thank you! YOUTH MINISTRY Service Opportunity for rising 7 th - 12 th Graders This Friday, June 23 Morning & Midday There will be multiple opportunities with a variety of tasks and different time frames. Corpus Christi Catholic Church www.corpuschristiphx.org Corpus Christi Older Adults Ministry Corpus Christi is beginning an Older Adults Ministry to help serve our older adults and their family members. We plan to have monthly communication in our church bulletin about relevant education and resources, as well as information on monthly or quarterly events in Ahwatukee area. Father Chad supports our efforts to initiate this ministry by having the Foundation for Senior Living (FSL) present an educational series entitled: Empowering Family Caregivers. FSL has received a grant from a national Catholic Foundation that makes it possible to bring the caregiver series to Catholic parishes at no cost to us. The first monthly session is coming up on Thursday, June 29 from 4-5 PM in rooms 7 & 8. See below for more information. Please contact Vicki McAllister at 602-387-3708 to RSVP. The program supports parents in their aim to offer their teens a truthful and faithful Catholic worldview with the hope of happy, healthy and holy relationships and a vibrant faith throughout their college years. Parents, your teens learn how to become victorious and not victimized by the cultural minefields that threatens their future! Student Testimonies: CALL helps young people overcome existing struggles and also helps them prevent future struggles. Theology of the body taught me a new respect for women and showed me a new Truth. I have learned what the Truth is, how to share it and how to defend it. Armed with this, I am confident, compassionate and a courageous Catholic life leader.
