November 18, 2018 The Pastor s Corner THE ST. MARGARET FLAG, which flies proudly over the northern side of the parish property, was dedicated and raised by the Class of 2018. The flag consists of a white saltire (St. Andrew Cross) on a blue field, which is the national flag of Scotland. St. Margaret s personal royal heraldry includes, in part, the rampant red lion, first used by her husband, King Malcom III, King of Scotland (1058-1093). It is here emblazoned on the white saltire in honor of Scotland s only royal saint. Her feast day is celebrated in the Catholic Church on November 16. St. Margaret, pray for us! The month of November is also flying by very quickly! Our thanks to Ron, Sandi, Lydia, the choir, and Charlie Moreira, Beth Carter and Roni Procopio, Ann Conlon and the Hospitality Committee for preparing the very memorable liturgy for our deceased parishioners. This is where St. Margaret s shines; the Community praying and worshipping together. So many families thanked me (for all of us) after Mass last Sunday. It simply reinforces our biblical tradition to pray for the dead. May they rest in peace; Amen. Today s readings have a number of insights for us to consider. What is the book to which Daniel refers in the First Reading? Both the Hebrew Scriptures and the Gospels have echoes to the book. In Psalm 69:38: The victor will thus be dressed in white, and I will never erase his name from the Book of Life but will acknowledge his name in the presence of my Father and of his angels. And, in Revelation 3:5: The victor will thus be dressed in white, and I will never erase his name from the Book of Life but will acknowledge his name in the presence of my Father and of his angels. This apocalyptic reference is an interesting teaching that the souls of the just are inscribed on a scroll presented to the Father in heaven. In Colossians, the author writes He (Jesus) cancelled the bond that stood against us, and nailed it to the cross (Col. 2:14). Our sins recorded on this cosmic I.O.U., this Book of Life, was cancelled by the Death and Resurrection of Christ. We have been set free and this is our hope during of this Month of All Souls! We are made for life in Christ thanks be to God! Enjoy this promise of our faith! ~Monsignor Darcy
