Trestleboard Palm Springs Masonic Lodge 693 F & AM January 2018 From the East: Our Installation on Saturday December 2 nd, 2017 was a great event to attend. We are very grateful that our Installing Team of Worshipful Daren Sanden PM from Yucca, Michael Sekera PM of Palm S[rings Lodge and Worshipful Bill Sullivan PM stepped up to help our lodge. Our Stated Meeting was again a success in that the business of the lodge was done in 25 minutes giving us a chance to focus on Masonic Education for the next 15 minutes. The topic of discussion was what does the CMC say about what a charter is and then we combined that with what our first degree lecture says about a charter. Discussion was had around this topic and the lodge was enlightened as to what a lodge must do when the lodge is no longer able to perform the degrees with no outside help. Are we a lodge if we cannot perform all three degrees as a group? Should we cease to exist when this happens? All good questions. The brothers are beginning to gel and come together. They are beginning to understand the true position that we are in and they are beginning to step up, put their aprons on and join the brethren who have been in quarries looking for solid stones to build a new building more in accordance to what all of our lessons say we are supposed to build. Thanks to Brother Jeff Gibson and his due diligence the water damage that was done to our building a few months ago. Beginning this December 21 the work will begin. And that is on the Winter Solstice. Our new discussion group was launched on Tuesday, December 12 th. This will be patterned after the Socratic Method style question and answer method. This discussion was facilitated by Brothers Cody Franks and Matt Jackson. The question for the evening was Does man have free will? 5 prospects, 2 EA s and one MM was in attendance and while this was going on your officers and brothers were doing
their duty and practicing the second section of the third degree. Both groups started at 6:30pm and when the brethren were done with practice in lodge we were surprised to find these gentlemen still in hot pursuit of meaning and Truth. It was amazing. Next month we will have stated meeting on Tuesday, January 2 nd. Come join us for some fellowship from 6:00 to 6:30pm. Dinner at 6:30pm, reservations are required and then the meeting at 7:30pm. Topic of discussion for the evening will be What is a lodge? Then on Tuesday, January 9 th will be having our Hall at 6:00pm meeting followed by our second discussion group at 7:00pm. These discussion groups are open to the public and Members. The people there were assigned to watch The Ultimate History Lesson with John Tayilor Gatto and to buy the book the Trivium by Sister Mariam Joseph and this will be our text book for the year. Congratulations to our Brother Bernard Shannon on his being installed as Master of Coachella lodge #476. He has a strong line of officers this year and we are looking forward to some joint events this coming year. Our hearts and thoughts continue to go out to our District Inspector Jim Ridley in these trying moments and all we can do is offer relief like our lecture talks about. You re in our thoughts and prayers Jim. Come join us every Tuesday brethren and see how you can help. There is plenty of work to do and the foundation is strong with the Eight Steps to Excellence and our principles of Everyone has a voice, everyone sees the vision, everyone has a role and the Leadership let the workers work is going to propel us for the next twelve months. All of this could not be done by one man but a band of brothers has come together and left their egos at the door and have joined in doing something great together. Cesar Rubio PM Your greatest servant.
