the newsletter of C ommunity United Methodist Church August 2013 Let s build a house by Pastor Markus Glorify God Encourage One Another Vacation Bible School takes us into the world of construction this year. For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. This is our theme verse from Hebrews chapter three. As you come to church you ll see hard hats, construction fences, scaffolding, blueprints, tools and whatever a good construction zone needs. We re really going to be under construction. Is your life under construction as well? In a way we are all builders of our own lives and by the power of God those lives are lived to the glory of God. If this happens a great big house is being built; a house God has started long time ago. Today we call this house God s church on earth and it is a great privilege to be part of the construction of this house. It says in Hebrews chapter three that Christ is faithful as a son over God's house. And we are his house, if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast. How does your faith-house fit into the blueprint of God s great house he wants to build with you? Are you a busy worker in God s construction field? Share Jesus I want to invite you to be involved with God s construction crew as we build his house. You can still volunteer to help out with our VBS construction zone, with our upcoming summer concert and corn roast on August 17th, you can even start thinking about your involvement as we start the new Sunday school year on September 8th and our Wednesday night programming a little later on. Things like these and many more are building God s house. God has a spot for you in in the construction and promises to dwell in it.

Thank you To all of you supported our MissionTrip to Bluefield WV! The trip was an awesome experience and God was definitely there! If you missed the slide show presentation on August 28th let us know, we will try to get you a copy so you can see the things that we did in Jesus Name! Thank you againfor your generous support of our Youth Ministries. All 6th-8th graders are welcome to join us for this one day mission event! Pick up your registration forms today! They are on the kiosk. All forms and $40 registration fee is due no later than September 17. Lunch will be provided. Participants will be expected to buy their own dinner. Scholarships are available. Questions??? Call Krystal at 262.210.0181 Milwaukee, WI September 28, 2013 6AM-7PM

English Settlement Church Old Fashion Chicken BBQ Saturday, August 17th 4-7:00 pm Location: Hwy A & J Carry outs available. Serving: 1/2 chicken, potato salad, cole slaw, dinner roll, homemade dessert. $9.00 GALILEE ORPHANGE PROJECT, BURMA is our Vacation Bible School Mission Project this year. Galilee is a new orphanage being constructed and at the moment progress has ground to a halt at 90% completion. This is home to 36 kids and most of the building is still not habitable. The walls and roof are in place but windows, floors, fixtures, furnishings, and electrical have not been funded yet. Building projects are difficult for us because we have two huge mandates that always come first. They are 1- The daily needs of the children already under care and 2- The rescue of children in great danger who are within our reach. But God is so very faithful and He is our provider. Thad Wilkinson (Missionary to Orphan Save) Burma is a land largely lost to Christ with only about 4% of the population that shares Christian belief. The kids will be raising funds for windows for the Galilee Orphange each night of Vacatoin Bible School. We encourage the children to earn some of the money they give as stated in Acts 20: 35 (We should work to help everyone who is weak, Remember that our Lord Jesus said, more blessings come from giving than from receiving ). The children can donate their monies into the wheel barrow by the display to the left as you come through the main entrance. Thank you so very much! Meets every Tuesday evening at, in room 13 on the lower level here at CUMC. My Grace is Sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness 2 Corinthians 1:9 Alzheimer s Caregiver Support Group This group meets here on the second Thursday of each month (not meeting in August due to Vacation Bible School) from 6:30-8 PM. In room 13 on the lower level with parking and entry from the back of the building for easy access. The purpose of the group is to provide caregivers with updated information, emotional support, and problem solving as related to the challenges of giving care to those living with Alzheimer s disease or other dementia. Three trained women, who have personally experienced caring for a loved one with Alzheimer s, will lead the group. This group is for caregivers only, not patients with dementia or Alzheimer s. Questions about the group? Call the church office at 262-534-2313. 4 F s senior Group Due to Summer Camps and Vacation Bible School set-up the next 4F Meeting will be on Thursday, September 26th. Faith goes up the stairs that love has built and looks out the window that hope has opened. Charles Spurgeon

We are asking someone to be responsible for coordinating for one year. You will be provided with a list of those who already make meals. We deliver meals the 3rd & 5th Saturday of each month between 11:00 am & noon for 10 adults. If you would like to do this please contact Scott or Patty Bernau at 262-534-2796. The Newsletter is available by email and on the website at www.extremefaith.org If you would like to stop receiving the newsletter by mail contact the office at 262-534-2313 or office@extremefaith.org to let us know. Electronic Giving is Available Contributions can be debited automatically from your checking or savings account. This service offers convenience for you and muchneeded donation consistency for our congregation. If you are currently giving on a regular basis, you will no longer need to write all those checks each year! And, when circumstances prevent you from attending services, this program will allow your offerings to continue on an uninterrupted basis. Authorization forms and a frequently asked questions flyer are available in the church office.
