January 2018 De Soto United Methodist Church Volume 25, Issue 1 Living Water Once again the calendar has rolled over to a new year. For many of us January is a time of thinking about resolutions we may or may not keep and hoping that this year will be better than last. Deep down we know January 1 is an arbitrary date, that nothing magic will happen but as people who live by a calendar we can t help but hope for something new and different to take place with our lives. What does this mean for our faith lives? How will 2018 be different from 2017? Throughout December I had a lot of time to think about this as I took a break from work to deal with my own health. I don t profess to have any special insight but I do know that I am excited for what 2018 will bring, knowing that this is a worshiping community that is seeking ways to live out their discipleship in authentic ways. The world is full of uncertainty, but it is also surrounded by God s unrelenting grace; grace that is ready to capture us and fill us with Christ s love. My hope for the coming year is we continue to build upon the love that is shared and the hope that is revealed in Christ. Thank you all who have been in prayer and supportive of my journey these past weeks. This is a community of grace that I know will thrive in 2018. Peace, Pastor Jeff January Sermons: January 7: And We All Shine On Isaiah 60:1-6 (Epiphany Sunday) January 14: From Exclusion to Embrace Luke 6:37-38 (MLK, Jr. Sunday) Sermon Series: Without Limits Being all you can be in the new year!
