There are colouring sheets and wordsearches on the tables outside The Haven. At the rear of church is The Haven, a glazed room which can be a great place to take children or babies who are too young to join the children s groups. Inside there are toys and books suitable for babies and toddlers. The church hall can be found through the rear doors of the church. In the hall you will find toilets and baby changing facilities (in the disabled toilet). The New Bishop of Southwell & Nottingham The inauguration and enthronement of the new Bishop of Southwell & Nottingham, Bishop Paul Williams, will take place at Southwell Minster on Saturday 27 th June. Bishop Paul said: It was wonderful to receive such a warm welcome to the Diocese on the day of my announcement as the next Bishop of Southwell and Nottingham. The service in June will be an excellent opportunity to celebrate what God is doing across the diocese and to commit ourselves afresh to participate in the unfolding adventure of following Christ Jesus as Lord.
St Giles Family News Gerald Cleaver Gerald Cleaver died last week in the presence of his family at Field House home. Lee and members of St Giles were able to visit him in his last hours. The details of his funeral will follow. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Knitting and Sewing Group This month s meeting is on Monday 16 th March at 2.00pm in the Church Hall Meeting Room. Just turn up and bring along some knitting, crochet or sewing to do tea and coffee provided. Youth & Children's Easter Music and Dance Celebration On Easter Sunday April 6th, we would like to involve our children and youth in a set piece of music, movement and dance, which will be performed as part of the service. The rehearsals will be in church on Sunday 22 nd and Sunday 29 th March, 3-4.30pm. You do not have to be a great dancer to take part and there will be opportunities for flag waving too for our Easter Celebration. Good Friday Workshop On the morning of Good Friday (4 th April) we will again be running the Good Friday Workshop for pre-school and primary aged children. This is a hugely popular event to which many children bring friends too. We do lots of crafts and act the Easter story. Could anyone spare a morning to sort out the junior church cupboard? It's in a bit of a mess and a tidy up would make such a difference if someone could spare the time to help. If you have one would you please empty the contents into a bag and put your name on it. Bring it to Church and either give it to Carole Sprakes or one of the Church Wardens. Many thanks for your continued support. Calling All Cricketers The dates have been agreed for the annual cricket matches against Holy Spirit Church. We will have an afternoon game on Sunday 14 th June followed by an

Mum s Afternoon Off The girls of St Giles Youth will be holding a pamper afternoon for Mums. There will be nail painting, foot spas, craft, cake and space to just chill out. This event is open to all Mums with children under the age of 5 so please invite your friends. The pamper afternoon will take place on Sunday 29th March 3-5pm in the George Chapel. You are welcome to drop in or stay for the whole afternoon. Who Let The Dads Out? Who Let The Dads Out is a great opportunity for those with children under 5 to have some time for the dads and kids to spend time together whilst mum gets to relax and be pampered. So whilst the mums are being pampered by the girls in church, the lads are going to be running a Who Let The Dads Out in the church hall. There will be bacon butties, toys, tea/coffee, Euro 96, table football and just hanging out with the lads. It will Sunday 29 th March, from 3-5pm. Calling All Drummers... A new hand percussion workshop is kicking off, once a fortnight on Fridays at 5.15pm before the music group practice. Anyone who then wishes to stay on and practice with the worship band, at 6.15pm, would be more than welcome. Could you be a Street Pastor? Street Pastors in Nottingham would really like to recruit more volunteers to join their fantastic team. Street Pastors are out from 10pm - 3am on Friday and Saturday nights. In 2014, they engaged with over 1800 people, gave out over 1000 bottles of water and around 500 pairs of flip flops, and every weekend they are told how much they are valued in the city centre by members of the public, doorstaff, the police and paramedics. Or maybe you could be a Prayer Pastor? The Street Pastor team are looking for volunteers who will pray during the hours that Street Pastors are out, either coming to the Malt Cross to pray, or praying from their own homes. Easter Decoration of Church The church will be decorated for Easter on Saturday 4 th April from 9.00am. Everyone is most welcome to come along to help jobs will be available for all abilities! Contributions to the cost of Easter flowers would be most gratefully received there is a box at the back of church for donations for flowers. We also use lots of greenery when decorating the church. Spring Flowers at Holme Pierrepont St. Edmund's Parish Church, Holme Pierrepont is holding its annual coffee morning on Saturday 21 st March in Holme Pierrepont Hall. Come and enjoy a morning coffee & biscuits with the opportunity of walking round the gardens to see the spring flowers. Entry costs 3 (children are free) and all proceeds go to St Edmund s Church, Holme Pierrepont. Good Friday Workshop time to sign up! The Good Friday Workshop will be held on Friday 3 rd April,10.00am 12.00pm, for primary aged children (pre-schoolers are welcome too, but they need to have a parent or carer stay with them). Please pick up a registration form at the back of church and let Claire Sheard know if your child(ren) will be there - it helps with planning to have an idea of how many children will be coming. Completed forms and 3 per child will be collected on the morning. Chocolate Egg Donations Please The annual Easter egg hunt and balloon release will take place on Easter Sunday morning, after the 10.30am service. From next week there will be a box at the back of church for chocolate egg donations (cream egg size). Many thanks! Afternoon at the Movies The next Seniors event is an Afternoon at the Movies at 11.30am on Friday 27th March in the George Chapel. This time we will be serving a soup and roll lunch, and as we need to know how many gallons of soup to make, could you sign up on the board at the back of Church if you will be coming along. The movie this time will be a comedy, with cartoons and a short nature film. All this for free, even better than the 1s 6d they charged in the good old days. St Giles Mission Partners Fusi Secondary School pen and pencil donations Elizabeth and David Dunford will be visiting Ha Fusi school in Lesotho in March. As a gift from the people of St Giles, it would be nice to give each of the students there a pen and a pencil to help them with their studies. If anyone would like to donate new pens or pencils, there will be a box at the back of church for the next few weeks. Little things make all the difference. The annual Scottish conference will be taking place on Saturday 21st March. Please pray that this would attract all those with a heart for international student ministry. Pray that the guest speaker, David Miller, would open up timeless truths for us. Christian Aid Week 2015: 10 th -16 th May The main fundraising events this year will be: House to House collection Meals through May: hosts are needed to run meals to raise funds for Christian Aid. It can be a light lunch, afternoon tea or a full dinner party! Whether you raise 20 or 500 it is all vital for Christian Aid's work. Entertain friends & family, or open up your event to church members. If you feel you are able to host a meal, large or small, please get in touch with Rachel Gregory. On Sunday 10th May, after the 10.30am service, there will be a soup and rolls lunch for everyone in the Church Hall. The date of the plant sale will be announced as spring progresses. Please do continue to remember the Friary when out shopping and drop anything you can into the collection box at the back of church.
