It seems the older we get, the faster the years go by. As long as we have our health, things continue to go smoothly. The Council also had a smooth year. Our financial position is in better shape than it was last year at this time. Bingo attendance is up somewhat. We accomplished a lot this year. Communications with our members has improved vastly and Brother David continues to do a super job with the Newsletter. Between the Newsletter and our expanding email program, no member can say they don t know what is happening. If they don t know it is because they don t want to know, the info is there. The old saying is You can lead a horse to water, but you can t make him drink. This new year will hopefully bring some inactive members back to our meetings and activities. We always need more help. We cannot continue to have all the projects done by a small group of dedicated Knights. Come back and join us and be an active participant again. Give us a try again, if you have some new ideas, bring them to us and help get them up and running. Our usual activities of pancake breakfasts, blood drives, parish help, etc. all continue. We continue to be the right arm of the church and we respond to every re- 9 DEC - Christmas party 11 DEC - Photo with Santa 17 DEC - Reverse Raffle (Continued on page 6) 31 DEC - New Year s Eve Dinner/Dance
Knightline Knights of Columbus Tara Council # 6352 News Letter September 2016 Page 2 of 6 Greetings Brother Knights, Deputy Grand Knight Thank you all for all that you have accomplished this year. As an organization, our accomplishments continue to amaze me, and to celebrate, we look forward to our annual Christmas party on December 9th. This is a pot luck event for the entire family, so the more the merrier! Coming up in March, we have two exciting fundraising events. We are assisting Council #7601 in their parking lot security detail at The Folds of Honor Race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway from March 2nd to March 6th, and on March 3rd we are running our first fish fry of lent. While these events are a ways away, they are typically two of our biggest events of the year, and because they fall on the same weekend, we hope to see everyone available lending a hand. Please take a look our events calendar published monthly with this newsletter to schedule time to support the council. If you are unable to find an event that you can support but have a desire to assist, I do have several other projects that need just a little extra help to get done. To volunteer for any and all of our events please visit our web page and click on our volunteer banner. Public Affairs Notes: If you have an article that you would like to have included in our newsletter please submit it to me by the 15 th of the month. Please forward or print a copy of our newsletter to give to one of our Brother Knights without an email so they can keep up with what we are doing. Knightline Knights of Columbus Tara Council # 6352 News Letter September 2016 Page 3 of 6 Ladies Auxiliary Presidents Corner Ladies of the Auxiliary, Ladies of the Auxiliary, The Holidays are upon us and we all are ultra-busy. I m sure, like me, we plan on cutting back on activities and think more of the spiritual side of Christmas. Too many years I fall short. This year the Adult Education department at church has planned an Advent Retreat for Saturday December 3 rd to help us with Advent and Christmas preparation. December has some special feast days: December 6 th -St. Nicholas, December 8 th- The Immaculate Conception, December 9 th -St. Juan Diego, December 12 th -Our Lady of Guadalupe, and December 28 th -The Feast of the Holy Innocents. We continue to be busy with the Bingo concession stand and working is really an enjoyable night. It is good to see the increased number of attendees at Bingo. Plans for our February Western Dinner are coming along and there seems to be a lot of enthusiasm. Thanks to all who have already signed up to cook, bake or decorate. We could use more help so just contact me or one of the other officers: Mary Millay, Clare Evon or Mary Hale. Thank you to all the women who volunteered at the KOC Pancake Breakfast and/or cooked eggs. It is always enjoyable to work side by side with our Knights. Schedule your pictures with Santa. This is the latest project from our Knights. A great idea. Hopefully it will be the start of a new tradition. Our next meeting will be on December 6 th with our Christmas Party on Friday, December 9 th. Plan on attending. Happy Birthday to: Clara Elizabeth Johnson 12/6, Mary Hale 12/7, and Jean Ward 12/25 A Holy and Merry Christmas to you and your families. Happy New Year God Bless Carolyn Kula, President Ladies Auxiliary

Knightline Knights of Columbus Tara Council # 6352 News Letter September 2016 Page 6 of 6 (Continued from page 1) quest of our pastor. He repeatedly states that he depends on us for so much and we always come through. There are several major activities this past year that were very successful and new to us or at least had not been done for a long time. We are now doing the Friday Lenten fish fries. In 2016 we did a great job with these and all parishioners were very pleased with our efforts. We will be doing this again in 2017- even better. We had a major fund raiser at the Atlanta Motor Speedway during their annual NASCAR race. This was a 24/7 operation for 4 days. It was cold at night, but we all had a good time and raised money for some of our charitable causes. We will again be doing this event in 2017. We will be looking for the help of everyone to help staff our 4 days. The more volunteers we have can make the shifts shorter. Not being a handy person, I could not believe how our handicap wheelchair ramp for one of our parishioners turned out. The real expertise came from Habitat for Humanity, they really came through for us with their knowledge. Without them we might still be working on the ramp. For 44 years the Council has sponsored Clayton County Public Service luncheon and personnel recognition. All EMT s, firefighters and police personnel from all the jurisdictions in the county are invited and they also recommend one of their people who have done an outstanding job. We select a winner and this person is presented a plaque as the Public Servant of the Year. This is a fun event for us and gives us the opportunity to thank these public servants for all they do 24/7 throughout the year. They are very appreciative of this event and look forward to it as we do. 44 years is a long time to keep up this tradition and we intend to keep this as an annual event. SVDP has had their thrift store in Hapeville for a very long time. They have outgrown this facility and are moving to a larger location in Morrow. They came to the Knights for help in getting the new facility ready. We responded as usual and have spent over 200 man hours working to get this new facility ready to open. We have removed old carpeting, did a lot of floor prep, built walls put up drywall, mudded the drywall and whatever else was needed. We have always had Knights & our Ladies Auxiliary members working at the store, but this was a new venture getting the new store ready. Once again the Knights come through to assist in any way we can. We are going to do Pictures with Santa this year, something new again. We are fill ing in time slots now so bring your kids and grandkids and have their picture taken with Santa, you can have your picture taken also as long as you sit on Santa s lap. So we are trying to involve more people and let them know the Knights are around and very active. Come and help us spread the word and become involved in these projects. But enough about the Council, we are now in the Christmas season and getting ready for the birthday of Jesus. It is a time to be happy and celebrate our faith. Enjoy this season with your family and friends. Let me be one of the first to be politically incorrect and wish you a Merry Christmas! Vivat Jesus Bob K Grand Knight
