Dear Parishioners: Thank you for sharing in the ongoing Mission of spreading the Word of Christ. We are grateful for your support of our Parish Religious Education Programs in our Formation Classes and in our Parish Schools that deepens the faith development of our children, youth and adults. Join all of us in praying this prayer for our Formation Catechists and Parish School Teachers as they are called to journey with our children, youth, and adults. Prayer for Catechists & Teachers of the Faith ~ O God, our Heavenly Father, you have given us the gift of these catechists to be heralds of the Gospel to our parish family. We lift them up to you in thanksgiving and intercede for them concerning their hopes and needs. May we be attentive to the presence of your Word in them, a Word that lifts up and affirms, calls forth and challenges, is compassionate and consoles. We pray that our parish family will always be blessed with those who have responded to the call to share in Christ s prophetic mission as catechists. May we too be open to the universal call to service that Christ addresses to all of his disciples, contributing our gifts to the communion of faith, the Church. We ask this in Jesus name. Amen. New website - St. Charles Borromeo has a new website. It is full of recent pictures, history of our Parish, calendar and activities of the Parish. St. Charles Borromeo Parish September 16, 2018 4 Happenings In and Outside The Parish HOLY HOUR FOR LIFE Each year the Deacon community sets aside one hour to pray for LIFE. In the past this was held on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, January 22 nd. It could be cold, snowing, icy, or even dark. After petitioning the Archbishop and with his approval, the Holy Hour has now been moved to October in conjunction with Respect Life month. I invite ST. Charles and St. Roman parishioners to join Deacon Claude Kennedy, Deacon Jorge Zuniga and I to pray for LIFE. We will have a HOLY HOUR FOR LIFE service at St. Charles on Wednesday, October 10 th,from 6:30-7:30 PM with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Rosary, prayer and Benediction as we remember the millions of unborn. Will you pray one hour with us? Deacon Al Foeckler SMALL FAITH SHARING GROUP For our next small Faith-Sharing group, we will be examining a recent writing by Pope Francis, titled Rejoice and Be Glad. The small book is rather like a pep talk about being holy in your own way and circumstances. The sessions will be held on Wednesdays beginning September 19 in the Hospitality Room of church, beginning at 1:30 and ending by 3:00 pm. There are some flyers about this on the table in back of the church. Please consider joining us. Each month we receive a box of free books or CDs from the Dynamic Catholic group. This month we received a CD entitled Faith at Work and the Holy Moment. This is a 37-minute presentation given by Matthew Kelly to the Catholic Business and Ethics Conference. Although it is addressed to those involved in business, it has many inspirational points for all of us. In particular, he speaks about his passionate theme we are all called to be holy, we are all called to make a difference in our families, our communities, and the world, one moment at a time. Pick up a copy of this CD from the back of church and listen to Matthew Kelly speak to you. When you finish, consider passing it on to someone else. IT S POPCORN TIME!!! Troop 540 will be selling popcorn before and after Mass on October 6th and October 7th, 2018. 70% of the profit goes back into Scouting and the Scouts can use there funds for summer camp and other outings. Please consider buying some delicious popcorn. Jubilee Celebration for Married Couples Join the Office for Marriage & Family Life in celebrating your silver or golden wedding anniversary!
