The Magnificence of God PSALM 8
PSALM 8:1-9 1 Lord, our Lord, how magnificent is your name throughout the earth! You have covered the heavens with your majesty.
PSALM 8:1-9 2 From the mouths of infants and nursing babies, you have established a stronghold on account of your adversaries in order to silence the enemy and the avenger.
PSALM 8:1-9 3 When I observe your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you set in place,
PSALM 8:1-9 4 what is a human being that you remember him, a son of man that you look after him?
PSALM 8:1-9 5 You made him little less than God and crowned him with glory and honor.
PSALM 8:1-9 6 You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet:
PSALM 8:1-9 7 all the sheep and oxen, as well as the animals in the wild,
PSALM 8:1-9 8 the birds of the sky, and the fish of the sea that pass through the currents of the seas.
PSALM 8:1-9 9 Lord, our Lord, how magnificent is your name throughout the earth!
When was the last time you were truly amazed by something?
When was the last time you were truly amazed by God?

God uses weakness to accomplish His powerful eternal purposes.
MATTHEW 21:25-26 25 Did John s baptism come from heaven, or was it of human origin? They discussed it among themselves, If we say, From heaven, he will say to us, Then why didn t you believe him?
MATTHEW 21:25-26 26 But if we say, Of human origin, we re afraid of the crowd, because everyone considers John to be a prophet.
1 CORINTHIANS 1:26-31 26 Brothers and sisters, consider your calling: Not many were wise from a human perspective, not many powerful, not many of noble birth.
1 CORINTHIANS 1:26-31 27 Instead, God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong.
1 CORINTHIANS 1:26-31 28 God has chosen what is insignificant and despised in the world what is viewed as nothing to bring to nothing what is viewed as something,
1 CORINTHIANS 1:26-31 29 so that no one may boast in his presence.
1 CORINTHIANS 1:26-31 30 It is from him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became wisdom from God for us our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption,
1 CORINTHIANS 1:26-31 31 in order that, as it is written: Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.

PSALM 8:3-4 4 what is a human being that you remember him, a son of man that you look after him?
What is a human being that you remember him?

HEBREWS 2 For he has not subjected to angels the world to come that we are talking about. But someone somewhere has testified: What is man that you remember him, or the son of man that you care for him?
HEBREWS 2 You made him lower than the angels for a short time; you crowned him with glory and honor and subjected everything under his feet.
HEBREWS 2 For in subjecting everything to him, he left nothing that is not subject to him. As it is, we do not yet see everything subjected to him.
HEBREWS 2 But we do see Jesus made lower than the angels for a short time so that by God s grace he might taste death for everyone crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death.
REVELATION 3:21 21 To the one who conquers I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.
Is the desire to rule with Christ just a desire for the power hungry?
ROMANS 8:18-24 18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is going to be revealed to us.
ROMANS 8:18-24 19 For the creation eagerly waits with anticipation for God s sons to be revealed.
ROMANS 8:18-24 20 For the creation was subjected to futility not willingly, but because of him who subjected it in the hope
ROMANS 8:18-24 21 that the creation itself will also be set free from the bondage to decay into the glorious freedom of God s children.
ROMANS 8:18-24 22 For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together with labor pains until now.
ROMANS 8:18-24 23 Not only that, but we ourselves who have the Spirit as the first fruits we also groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for adoption, the redemption of our bodies.
ROMANS 8:18-24 24 Now in this hope we were saved, but hope that is seen is not hope, because who hopes for what he sees?
APPLICATION 1. Marvel at God s grace toward you.
APPLICATION 2. Rejoice in hope.
