TWENTY-FOURTH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME SEPTEMBER 16, 2018 MASS INTENTIONS FROM THE DESK OF...FATHER KALUZA September 18 September 23 Our annual fall festival is quickly approaching next weekend! We are all looking forward to a good time to gather and celebrate as a community. Much effort and planning has been put into making this an extraordinary event! The theme in our readings this weekend reminds us that faith must be demonstrated in our actions and relationships. We show our faith when we fully participate. I hope that you will consider taking a role in the festival - volunteering for an activity, donating an item, purchasing your tickets and being present for the festivities! We have much to celebrate and our relationships with one another are meaningful examples of how we live our faith. Saint James reiterates the same message. We must show a deeper understanding of Jesus rather than just as a passive acquaintance. We proclaim the Gospel by our manner of life and live in love and generosity. Life offers plenty of opportunity to confirm our Christianity. That's the challenge that Saint James poses to us. That's also the message of the Gospel - Jesus is the Christ, the one who came into the world to reconcile us to the Father. That means we must follow him all the way to Calvary. Along the way we will encounter opportunities to carry the cross, but we also live in the joy of being disciples! We find our way to eternal life through self-denial, focusing on others and living in the gratitude of personal knowledge of Jesus. Let's make it obvious that we know who He is! God bless you! United in Faith, Honoring our Past, Shaping our Future! Century Link Update: As of the date of this article, the Century Link Agreement has been received; Catholic Mutual has requested further clarification. Our hope that it will be approved this week. Once Century Link has received the approved contract and fee for services, they will provide timeline to complete their work. Site Work: Site work continues as the utility companies finish the work on the duct bank at the north and west sides of the church so that soil stabilization can begin, as well as curb and gutter. Work to remove the 6 water main and sewer line in the street will continue this week. The tunnel under Church Avenue cannot be removed until Century Link has moved their lines. No further work on the foundation for the building can be started until the Century Link is complete. Temporary Adoration Chapel No update available at this time. An EBLAST will be sent to all parishioners once we have a timeline to completion. Stay Informed! We will continue to utilize the bulletin and the website for updates to the project. For updates with significant impact to our community, we will utilize electronic means to communicate via the Parish Website, Facebook and Email blast. If you need to update your email address, please email the parish office @ parishoffice@mqpcatholic.org to be sure you are included in all parish-wide communications. Pray! While we wait patiently for the construction of the Parish Life Center to begin, let us pray: Holy Mother, Mary Queen of Peace, we are grateful for the ability share our gifts of time, talent and treasure in ways that that benefit our Parish Community. Spread the mantle of your loving protection over all who labor in bringing our Parish Life Center to reality. Amen.
