*The Prayer of Dedication (In Unison) Loving God, as we share a portion of the wealth you have given, we pray that it may never become the object of our love. Keep us focused on people and relationships and your lasting values, rather than on the possessions we can accumulate. Help us to dedicate our time, money, and our lives to your reign among us, through the grace of Christ. Amen. Come, all who long to hear God s word. People: The word of God is living and active. It pierces us and judges us; It inspires us and comforts us. Leader: God understands our thoughts and intentions. God knows us better than we know ourselves. People: Let us open our hearts to God s will and way. Let us follow Jesus in all that we do and say. Leader: Let us worship God! The Opening Prayer (In Unison) Eternal God, we thank you for your presence among us. You bring comfort in times of trouble, clarity in the midst of confusion, peace in the midst of conflict, and hope in the face of despair. As we turn to you in worship, challenge our thoughts and perceptions with your word of truth. Touch our hearts and our spirits with your word of grace. Empower us to embrace the path of discipleship, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. *The Opening Hymn #51 Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing (Sing to the Lord) (Ushers will collect prayer requests. Please pass them to the side aisles.) *The people will rise in body or spirit Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church 201 E. The Prayer of Confession (In Unison) God of grace, giver of every good and perfect gift, we confess that we have misused your blessings. We stuff our lives with possessions, our schedules with busyness, our bodies with excess, but still, we feel empty. Distracted by the immediate, we overlook the eternal and ignore our relationship with you. Forgive us, Lord. Grant us the wisdom to reorder our priorities. Grant us the grace to know our hearts true hunger. Satisfy us with your love, so that obeying your will and serving your glory may fill us till we want no more. Amen. A Time of Silent Confession The Assurance of Pardon The Congregation Sings in Response Gloria Patri Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen. The Church in Proclamation The Scripture Reading Mark 10:17-31 N. T. Page 46 Leader: The word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God The Anthem Sanctus Chancel Choir The Micro Message The Congregation Sings in Response #2167 More Like You More like you, Jesus, more like you. Fill my heart with your desire to make me more like you. More like you, Jesus, more like you. Touch my lips with holy fire and make me more like you. The Sermon Rev. Merry Meloy The Church Responds *The Affirmation of Faith - Apostles' Creed (In Unison) I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. The Prayers of the People and Lord s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. The Offertory Invitation When we rely on the things we have accumulated more than the grace God gives, our Christian discipleship is threatened. Jesus said, Go, sell what you own and give the money to the poor... then come, follow me. Let us give out of gratitude to God and concern for our neighbors. Let us give joyfully and generously! Please sign and pass the Friendship Registers located near the center aisle. Thank you! The Offertory Organ Offertory Chuck Davey *The Congregation Sings in Response Response #7 Praise God, Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heav nly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen The Hymn #540 Give of Your Best to the Master (Sing to the Lord)

November First Sunday Mission Offering Our First Sunday Mission Offering in November goes to the Samaritan Counseling Center of Western Pennsylvania. The Center is a faith-based, non-profit organization that helps individuals and families find spiritual, emotional and physical healing through professional counseling and educational programs. Samaritan Counselors seek to provide more than a relief from symptoms; they strive to help clients discover and address those factors that are keeping them from becoming the people God intends them to be. The Center offers a variety of services, including one-on-one counseling for adults, children, adolescents, couples and families, spiritual direction, grief support services, and group seminars. Fees are adjusted according to a client s ability to pay. The Center is funded, in part, by contributions from churches, organizations, individuals, and foundations. Samaritan Counseling has locations in Allegheny, Beaver and Butler Counties. To help fund this quiet but vital ministry, simply use a First Sunday Mission Offering envelope found in the pew racks or mark First Sunday Mission in the memo portion of your check. Thank you!
