Summer Bible Camp Our next meeting for this year s Summer Bible Camp will be held on Monday, July 9 th in the SVP rectory from 5:30PM-7:00 PM. We are also in need of teens and adults to help set up and decorate during the week on July 18th, 19th, & 29th 6pm - 9pm. Staying Catholic in the Summer Sadly, it has become a common practice for parents to stop bringing their children to Holy Mass in the summer months once religious education classes have ended. Why is attending Mass considered so important to the practice of our faith? It is the greatest reality that we can participate in this side of heaven. In fact, Saint John Vianney once said: There is nothing so great as the Eucharist. If God had something more precious, He would have given it to us. As parents, we want to give the best we can to our children. Things like sports, summer camps, time with friends, and even academic opportunities, can certainly help foster wholesome growth in the lives of our children. However, although good, these things are all passing. We must be careful not to allow anything to cause us to neglect a child s spiritual growth. Bringing children to Holy Mass is far more important than anywhere else we can take them. (Even Disney World.) Receiving Jesus in the Eucharist is what helps us get to heaven. After all, Salvation is ETERNAL. What could possibly be more important?..and to God -- thanks, to Him who is giving us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Cor) Finally, please remember that neglecting to go to Holy Mass on Sunday or a Holy Day is a mortal sin which must be confessed before receiving Our Blessed Lord in Holy Eucharist. Save the date for Father Jacek s, 10th Anniversary of the Priesthood Celebration, Sunday, July 8 th : There will be a Mass of Thanksgiving, 11:00am at OLC with a reception to be held at 1:30pm in the OLC gymnasium. Thank you to all who have already signed up to attend this event and to help with the food. We will have live music from noon to 1:30 on the grounds at OLC. This will be by the combined talents of both Choir ministries. Bring a lawn chair and relax. Altar Servers who wish to participate are asked to come to the Church basement at OLC at 10:45am. If you can help with set up on Saturday, July 7th, please come to the OLC gym at 10am. We also need help with the clean up of the gym after the party. Remember: many hands make light of work.
