Dear Shir Tikvah: Shanah Tovah! We are inspired by the prophetic words of Isaiah: כ י ב ש מ ח ה ת צ א ו וב ש ל ום ת וב ל ון ה ה ר ים ו ה ג ב ע ות י פ צ ח ו ל פ נ יכ ם ר נ ה ו כ ל ע צ י ה ש ד ה י מ ח א ו כ ף Go out in joy and be led in peace; the mountains will leap forth in song and the trees of the field will clap their hands. As we join together for our 31st High Holy Days as a Shir Tikvah community, we do so b simcha- with abundant joy - and b shalom - with prayers for wholeness and peace. We gather in a new space for High Holy Days 5779 at the Earle Brown Heritage Center in Brooklyn Center. Our spiritual task remains ancient and eternal: to inspire in our souls the work of t shuvah - to turn inward toward reflection and to turn outward toward repentance, to engage in the work of tikkun, to repair our broken souls, our broken relationships, our broken world. We will be in a new place, but we will continue to hear the cry of the shofar, experience the majesty of Kol Nidre, stand before the ark, remember our loved ones who have died at Yizkor, and raise our voices in prayerful defiance of despair as the darkness of Neilah descends. As we move forward, we pray that we will be received with mountains in song and trees clapping with joy - yimcha-u chaf, the text concludes - with hands clasping together in prayer, in song, in hope. Our families join us in wishing each of you a Shanah Tovah U m tukah- A New Year Overflowing with Tenderness, Sweetness, and Love, Rabbi Michael Adam Latz Rabbi Debra L. Rappaport Rabbi Arielle Lekach-Rosenberg Bruce D. Manning, President 3
