23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time Page 3 From Fr. Dave Bruning. The steak and chicken dinner to pay toward the Church debt was a rousing success. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to its success, particularly Ray and Glenda Hawley for the coordination of this activity. I know that it took a great effort of many parishioners to make this a success. Thanks to all of you. This coming Friday, September 14 will be a day of special prayer throughout our diocese for the victims of sexual abuse and the purification of the Church. We need to pray for them, for all who have been affected by this horror, and for our Church leaders, that they will ensure that this never happens again and that they will hold accountable anyone in Church leadership who has covered these crimes up. We will have exposition of the Blessed Sacrament after our 8:15am Mass, which will continue through the day. You are invited to stop in for prayer and reflection. Thanks to the huge success of the Steak/Chicken Dinner, $4,055.41 will go toward paying down the church debt. Thank You! R.C.I.A. Would you like to talk with someone about becoming a Catholic? Have you been searching for a deeper relationship with God? For a sense of belonging, in a faith community? Are you married to a Catholic and want to know more about your spouse s faith? Have you been attending mass, sometimes for a very long time, and never made that phone call? Do you have children in our parish school, or in RCIC? Have you learned about our faith and Church with them, and want to know more? Ever wondered about the differences in the Catholic and Protestant Bibles? Or how about Mary and the saints? The RCIA is a journey for adults through discernment of God s call. Through the beginning stages of asking and seeking. Through involvement with faithful Catholics. Through discussions about Catholic teachings. Through the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. These informal sessions meet in the Lourdes Room on Sunday mornings at 8:30 AM. If you or someone in your family is interested, call the RCIA Director: Marty Charney 419-865-7252. The Senior Lunch Bunch We will meet at noon on Wednesday, September 12th at Olive Garden located on S. Reynolds Rd. and Glendale for lunch, fellowship and fun!
