Notices WALK FOR ALL - FOR CHILDREN IN NEED Wednesday 7 th November We will meet at 10.30am in our car park. We will take the Tarka Trail to Turnpike Cross and have lunch together in the Fortescue Arms. We will be pleased to receive donations to send to Children in Need. All welcome. For further info please contact me. Jean Thomas jeanthomas0803@gmail.com GROWING COMMUNITY IN OUR HARBOUR. Did you see the following in October Focus community magazine? In her diary our Mayoress, Amanda Gartshore wrote following our Sea Ilfracombe Maritime Festival Service: Did you know that the congregation of Pip and Jim s pray for every single boat in Ilfracombe Harbour by twice a year as the boats are craned into the harbour in spring and craned out again in autumn? I m not religious, but I am touched by the spirit of community and inclusiveness this demonstrates. Our efforts to take the gospel to our harbour community are truly appreciated. Do please continue to pray for our streets and neighbours through the winter season. Page 5 of 12

COMBE CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL AND MARKET CAROL SERVICE SUNDAY 25 th NOVEMBER I do hope you will support our local community initiative in the Ropery Road Car Park. There will be lots going on during the day, but the high point will undoubtedly be the Carol Service at 4pm. This year I ll be telling the Christmas story through word and carols, accompanied by a local brass band, as the bible characters arrive to create a nativity tableau around the crib animals, shepherds, wise men and, of course, the Holy Family. This promises to be a visual extravaganza! What better way to begin the festival season? Please come, join the crowd and witness to our Lord s presence amongst us and the real meaning of Christmas. Clive SPIRITUAL GIFTS DISCERNMENT You will be aware that we are running an initiative to discern the Gifts of the Holy Spirit that we have all been blessed with in Pip and Jim s. A church that enables those gifts to be valued, enhanced and utilised for the building up of the kingdom will build bridges, grow community, find faith and change cultures. There will be four sermons which will focus on these gifts and questions for home group or personal reflection. The sermons will be sent to members by email. If you would like a hard copy, please ask me and I will provide. 4/12 Teaching, Leadership, Evangelism and Apostleship - Building Bridges Page 6 of 12

18/12 Discernment, Knowledge, Prophecy, Tongues, Wisdom - Changing Culture 2/12 Faith, Intercession, Healing, Miracles - Finding Faith 9/12 Pastoring, Giving, Mercy and Administration, Helping, Encouragement, Hospitality i.e. practical Christianity - Growing Community After this we shall all be given a booklet to help us discern our Spiritual Gifts, with the idea that we can all share with our leadership team, who will then work with you to enhance and use those gifts for the church and kingdom. This is an exciting initiative which involves each of us enlightening but with no pressure! Clive CHRISTMAS TREE FESTIVAL 2018 10am-3pm Friday 23rd November-Monday 2nd December with free admission and light refreshments. To celebrate Ilfracombe Lighting the Lights in the Harbour area and the Combe Christmas Fayre, we at Pip and Jim s are holding our third Christmas Tree Festival. All donations will go to local charity On the Doorstep We hope to see Pip and Jim's lit up with Christmas Trees representing the life of the church, its members, families and the harbour and town Communities. We invite businesses, families and organisations to be part of this celebration. Page 7 of 12

We invite you to provide a Christmas tree, of any size, real or plastic, decorating it to depict your activity/association/business/family. You can accompany your tree with information advertising your business or organisation. There is no charge for taking part, but we hope the event will be a great opportunity to celebrate and advertise your business/organisation within the community. To book a place for your tree or for any further information, please contact Stephanie on 07786136113 or email: stephne53@sky.com Do you enjoy carol singing? Here are three opportunities: a) Come along to Pip and Jim's Christmas Tree Festival on the afternoon of Saturday 1st December and join in with some well-known carols as we provide a musical background. Words provided. All welcome, just come along. b)if you would like to be part of a small group singing carols etc in 3 or 4 parts during the Christmas Tree Festival on the afternoon of Saturday 24th of November, please get in touch. There would be a couple of rehearsals for this. c) If you are a singer, musician, soloist, or part of a singing musical group that would like to entertain with seasonal music at the Christmas Tree Festival you would be most welcome to come and join us. For further details please email suecooke15@gmail.com or katyashford@yahoo.co.uk Page 8 of 12
