World Changers Nashville This year our World Changers will include both Construction sites and Church Planting ministry sites. They call it a Combo Project. We will still be needing funds to sponsor ramps and both Construction and Ministry Worksites! United Cerebral Palsy of Nashville has sites for us to build six to eight ramps during our week of World Changers at a material cost of $800 per ramp. Would your church prayerfully consider sponsoring one (or more) wheelchair ramps for a needy family in our community so we can meet our goal of eight ramps or consider donating to area ministry worksites for construction or church planting? We Need Host Churches! You can share a blessing with these young people by ministering to them as they minister to others. By hosting a crew you will be providing lunch for approximately 20 crew members at their ministry worksites. This year, we will need at least 20 host churches to provide World Changers Nashville lunches. You will deliver lunch to a ministry worksite each day from Monday Wednesday, June 18-20, 2018. If you are interested in hosting a crew contact either Tammy Drolsum or JoAnn Howard at 615-259-3034 or tfdrolsum@nashvillebaptists.com; Thursday, May 3rd at 7am The Atrium at Bridgestone Arena Nashville, TN Speaker: Dr. Robert Jeffress - Pastor, Professor, Author Senior Pastor of the 13,000 member First Baptist Church, Dallas Join 94FM The Fish for a time of celebration and prayer with pastors and public servants from all over Middle Tennessee on the National Day of Prayer. This is a free event for pastors and public servants, but registration is required. To register go to Eventbrite.com Thank you Becky Sumrall for a job well done. Becky will retire as the Executive Director of Begin Anew on June 2, 2018. Becky has led Begin Anew (formerly Christian Women's Job Corp) for 18 years. The ministry impact and expansion since she began to lead the ministry in 2000 has been beyond what anyone could have imagined. When she began the ministry was serving two women students with two volunteers and one paid staff in one location, weekly. Today they are weekly serving two hundred and ten (210) men and women students with three hundred (300) volunteers and thirteen (13) paid staff in seven (7) locations. Their latest program expansion is the establishment of a social enterprise which provides part time employment for students and income for the ministry. Begin Anew World Craft Refugee Artisans are one of only four World Craft groups in America. This programing uniquely offers our refugees a salary, English Classes, and the holistic services of Begin Anew. The number of students served annually has grown from 13 in 2000 to 485 in 2017. In 18 years of the ministry together they have ministered to a total of 4,600 individuals and rose over $5,775 million to bring hope and transformation to those in our community struggling to overcome the obstacles caused by poverty. Nationally in 2006, Begin Anew was awarded first place in the Samaritan Award by World Magazine which recognizes effective compassion for the most vulnerable in America. In 2017, Becky was chosen by Nation Women s Missionary Union to receive the Dellanna O brien Award in recognition of outstanding ministry at Begin Anew and leadership development of women. The Lord is leading Becky into the next chapter of ministry in consulting and coaching. As a national trainer for CWJC/CMJC and Bridges out of Poverty she will continue to offer consulting, coaching, and training to individuals, teams, and leaders of ministries and nonprofits to increase their capacity to accomplish their mission. As a Certified Coach with Coach Approach Ministries and International Coaching Federation she will coach across all economic groups. For individuals trapped by the barriers of poverty she will offer Economic Mobility Coaching. Becky will also be available to coach individuals seeking to address goals around their life, career, and/or spiritual direction. She certainly will be continuing to support and network for Begin Anew from a new role to equip and support persons living in poverty in Middle TN in the future. Thank you! We want to Thank Jack Carver for the great work he has done here at the NBA. Jack will be leaving his position of Church Strengthening Strategist on May 1st. He will be missed. Jack and his wife, Wanda, will be moving to Pikeville TN to continue in ministry there.

In 1971, she moved to Cordele, Georgia, when her father was called as pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church. It was there that she met her husband of 38 years, Greg Slade. They became the proud parents of 2 children, Rob, who lives in Ohio, and Dana, who lives at home with them. Dana has Down Syndrome and is known to all as "Peach". Cheri and Greg also have 3 grandchildren. The Lord blessed Cheri with the opportunity to put together a 3-year reading plan through God's Word, which she shared with the women of the Cordele Community over a 7-year period. In November of 2015, God led Cheri to give up all areas of service, to come away - alone - with Him. Over a period of 2 years, God took her through much grief and heartache as she learned to die to self, become hidden in God with Christ, and the meaning of God's mighty resurrection power. Dedication Service New Season Church June 10, 2018 In 2011 there was a new road map established between, Brother David Royalty (FBCJ), Rusty Sumrall (NBA), and Dwayne Lewis. Brother David Royalty set a meeting with Brother Dwayne to discuss planting an African American Church in the Whites Creek/Bordeaux area. After a couple of meetings Brother Dwayne agreed to walk along side of Brother Royalty and Rusty Sumrall and plant New Season Church. This mobile ministry started on Thursday nights at Grace Nursing home. We worshipped there for one year, and then moved to Alex Green Elementary School. NSC, became Pencil partners, assisted needs for teachers, students and the principle. While there, NSC met on of the needs of the school by installing a projector and screen in the cafeteria. We stayed in that location 5 years. Upon leaving the school, we went into specific fasting and prayer concerning NSC receiving a debt free church. Not knowing how or when God would do it, we just believed God for it. In July Bro. Dwayne Lewis & Bro. David Royalty Guatemala Mission Trip What a tremendous blessing it was for me to lead the NBA s April 2018 medical mission team to Guatemala City, Guatemala. Our team consisted of five local Nashville area healthcare providers (including two nurse practitioners, a registered nurse, an ultra sonographer, and a med-surg nurse), as well as two local pastors. Through the Guatemalan Baptist Convention, we were able to partner with a local Baptist church in Guatemala City to host a week-long medical clinic for the residents living near the church building. During our week, our team was able to see approximately 600 patients with medical needs including skin problems, intestinal disorders, orthopedic challenges, and we were even blessed to notify a few young ladies that they were pregnant. Guatemala City is a unique area. The city itself is not entirely third world, but there are certainly pockets of poverty. Approximately 80% of the population stops attending school after the 6 th grade, mostly due to embarrassment over not being able to obtain the necessary school supplies. Many of the young men face the risks of a culture wrought with addiction and organized crime. Those who are fortunate enough to avoid such dangers will often leave the area in search of steady work. For these reasons, there is a vacuum of male leadership in local Guatemalan churches. Of the roughly 600 people that our medical team ministered to, it is likely that only 10 to 12 of them were working age men. Please pray that God will raise up a generation of male leadership in the Guatemalan church who will seek Him with all of their heart, and lead their families and congregations to do the same. The ministry model that we used was patterned directly after the Master Himself. Jesus very often met people s physical needs as a means to address their spiritual needs. After you have demonstrated to someone that you care enough to help them with an illness or other ailment (or other challenge), more often than not, you have their attention and an opportunity to speak about spiritual matters with them. It was a blessing to see the pastor and several deacons from the local church with their Bibles open, directly sharing God s word with everyone who passed through the medical clinic. In addition, every person was given a gospel tract to read, and invited to attend one of the several worship services held throughout the week. Please commit to pray for all missionaries everywhere, at home and abroad, short term and long term. Please pray for their safety. Please pray for them to be bold for the Gospel. And please pray that God s word is received and that lost people are saved. (Bruce Cullom has previously served as discipleship pastor at Grace Baptist Church in Nashville, and is currently a full-time student at Southern Baptist Theological 2016, the members of Bordeaux Baptist decided to disband and contacted Rusty Sumrall of Nashville Baptist Association. Rusty, informed them he had a African American Church that needed a building to worship in. At that time Rusty, set up a meeting on a Thursday for Brother Dwayne and Brother David to meet the remaining members. During that meeting Brother Dwayne and Brother Bobby Hatfield (BBC), discovered they graduated from the same High School and knew a lot of the same people. A second meeting was set-up and during that meeting the remaining members of BBC (Bordeaux Baptist Church), decided to deed New Season Church their building. On Sunday, August 7, 2016, the keys and deed was handed over to Dwayne Lewis and New Season Church. Thanks to Rusty Sumrall for all the work he put in to make this dream come true for three churches and the Nashville Baptist Association. Join us, on Sunday, June 10, 2018; we will have our church dedication celebration, with First Baptist Church Joelton. New Season is excited to have Brother David Royalty, preach the word and dedicate our church building and the church body.
