A MESSAGE FROM FR. RICHARD Dear Friends, A Baptist preacher (I cannot remember his name) described his preaching when he was just starting out in the ministry. He tried to pack too much into each sermon. His congregation encouraged him at first, responding Preach it brother! As he covered more ground, the members began to say, Bring it home, brother! Bring it home! And as he went on more and more far afield, they began to call out Help him, Jesus. Help him! November is a lot like that. I m speaking about the liturgical flow. Jesus is portrayed as the one who is helping us, and bringing us home. The liturgical themes remind us of the end of time, the banquet festival that shall crown our years, the reign of Christ to which we are inexorably being drawn. All Saints Sunday teaches the power of God s Spirit to make us share His holiness. Thanksgiving reminds us that the harvest has a cyclical return, ever gathering a crop for God. The Christ the King festival prefigures the eternal rule of God. As gifts given, God is opening the gate and seeing us home. Take time to reflect on the Blessings of God, which God so generously shares in this life, where we dwell. Gladden your heart, and see His goodness infused in each day. This banquet is not to be missed!! I remain, Your friend and Rector, (The Reverend) Richard S. Signore Tidings of Holy Trinity-November 2017 1

September 2017 Financial Report Finances are stable with income exceeding expense, although some of the income is restricted. The unfulfilled pledge line is healthy because the current year pledges are overpaid in addition to the pre-paid pledges. The kitchen project continues to move along with a few delays, but overall no major problems. Once complete, the permits will be signed off and we will schedule a kitchen and building inspection. Our sexton Brian Canty has given notice as he cannot physically do the job. He will continue until we find a replacement, and the position has been advertised. Brian estimates the janitorial duties take about 10 hours a week. The YMCA have returned to their newly renovated space on Marcy Street; the security deposit will be refunded once a final walk-through has been done and keys have been returned. At the October vestry meeting the Vestry voted to keep the YMCA rental income in reserve and to put 10% into the Mission and Outreach fund. The finance committee met and drafted a 2018 budget, which is attached. Susan Howland, Treasurer THANK YOU Thank you to the following people who took good care of our lawn this summer and helped make our church beautiful and inviting!! Jerry Helbig, Josh Spooner, Bill Pieczynski, John Grant, Bill Nelson, and Paul Aloia LOAVES AND FISHES As always everyone is welcome to bring in food that goes to the food pantry at St. John Paul II. This year we are trying something different - people can sign up for a month: i.e., bring in food for a chosen month! If you would like to "take a month," there are at least 2 still available in 2017! The sign up sheet is on the table at the back of the church. Thank you to everyone who has signed up and already brought food in. ~Tamsin Lucey WINTER COAT CLOSET Winter coats for men, women, youth and children will be available on Saturday mornings from 9-11 am through December 16. Clean, gently used coats are always in need! Join us for Family Worship in Blakely Hall November 12 & 26 When families come together to worship with kids in mind. NOVEMBER BIRTHDAYS 2 Mary Demers 6 Barbara Kalber 8 Paige Spooner 8 Carolyn Anderstrom 17 Hope Wilson 23 Lana Pieczynski 23 Josh Spooner 25 Eileen DeMings If you have a birthday this month and are not listed but would like your name to be included in our monthly Tidings for birthdays, please contact the office. Thank you! Tidings of Holy Trinity November 2017

THE MISSION PLATE We will continue to collect donations for hurricane relief through November. In speaking with Southbridge Community Connections, Southbridge has had an influx of people who have fled Puerto Rico and are staying with family due to the conditions there. They have come with nothing! Our November collection will go to Southbridge Community Connections to help get the supplies and clothing needed to survive the cold weather here. Let us keep our hearts open, prayers offered, and donations flowing to help ease the trials and tribulations others are suffering. Suzy Sharp 774-230-3426 ALL PARISHIONERS ARE INVITED TO THE STEWARDSHIP INGATHERING BRUNCH NOVEMBER 19 FOLLOWING THE SERVICE. Fr. Richard invites all children of any age to wear their Halloween costumes to church on Sunday, November 5 for All Saint s Sunday. November 5 @ 2:00 a.m. Stewardship Ingathering and Harvest Service Sunday, November 19 @ 9:30 am As life brings us back around each year, we gather to celebrate the In-Gathering of Pledge Cards and Harvest Service. We will be celebrating all of our great harvest and bring them to the Lord with great joy, openness of heart, and splendor! Please plan to join us for this special service, during which pledge cards will be collected in the offering and placed on the altar. {Pledge cards will be mailed to households separately & are available on the Narthex table.} Everyone is invited to enjoy brunch in the parish hall after the service. Gathering of the Great Bounties for the Harvest We will be adorning the Sanctuary with Fall Harvest Bounties on Saturday, November 18. Come One, Come All and bring a little touch of fall with you to help decorate. We are looking for contributions of pumpkins, gourds, squash, corn stalks, bales of straw, mums, kale, colored leaves, anything that reminds you of the Great Harvest! Contributions may be dropped off no later than Sunday, November 12. If you would like to help with decorating, please see Tamsin Lucey. Dear Thankful People at Holy Trinity Our combined United Thank Offering of $710.83 was taken to the UTO ingathering held during the Diocesan Conventions Eucharist...Thanks be to God!
