Hopefully its a time for new blood and new ideas as well thanking those who have served in one or more of those important roles that help us to function as a Society. Both the web site and exhibition sub committees are down in numbers due to retirement of some members, Thanks to everyone who has contributed to these sub committees and WELCOME to anyone who might volunteer to take on those roles in future. Our Editor has indicated that he is likely to be away in May and October so we care Also looking for and understudy to fill the gaps and perhaps even consider taking over the role in the longer term. David Dodd has kindly agreed to act as the Returning officer for the AGM so a big thank you to him. Hopefully a number of you will have got your fabulous fake of your favourite painting to bring along to the AGM when there will be a mystery prize for the members choice of favourite fake This months plein air will be at Glenbrook village Starting in April we are going to trial a themed painting award at monthly meetings; while it will not make you rich it will encourage you to show your work to colleagues and get some helpful and constructive feedback. Aprils topic is Still life ; May, Buildings; June, Clouds. Next months demonstrator is Kristel Smits, arts conservationist. Happy painting ready for the Easter exhibition!! Peter Ayres 1

TICE OF THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting of the Society of Mountain Artists Inc. will be held at 1.00 pm on Thursday 15th March 2018 at Wentworth Falls School of Arts Great Western Hwy Wentworth Falls AGENDA 1. Adoption of the Minutes of the previous AGM held on 16th March 2017 2. To receive and accept Annual Financial Report (year ending 31st December 2017) 3. To receive and accept President s Annual Report 4. Election of Management Committee 5. Appointment of Auditor and determination of remuneration 6. Motions, notice of which must be received by the Secretary in writing fourteen days prior to the meeting The Society s Constitution provides for the yearly election for a Management Committee of nine members. The Committee consists of executive positions of President, Vice-president, Secretary, Treasurer and five (5) general members. 4

Plein -Air Luncheosn A Teas Many of our Committee Members are retiring due to Family Duties, Health and just Over Work If you want the Society to continue with the wide variety of Activities we offer to members THEN SOME MORE HELPERS WILL HAVE TO COME FORWARD The Management Committee has worked for the last year one member short. MORE LOAD ON THE OTHERS> The Web Sub-committee is down to TWO Doubt if it can continue STEP_UP OR SOME ACTIVITIES WILL HAVE TO BE STEPPED DOWN 5 5

Society of Mountain Artists Website Analytics for Feb 2018. This report for February 2018 also briefly compares the statistics for the same period February 2017. The comparative figures for Feb 2017 are not shown in bold. The Website analytics picture for February 2018 is as follows: February 2018 saw slightly less usage overall on most measures than in February 2017. There were 116 v 150 Users over this period that had at least one session or visit. This figure includes new as well as returning Users. There were 147 v 139 Sessions overall. Sessions are the number of times a user is actively engaged with our website. They may for example, be a visitor looking at the On-line Gallery or Events. The SMA website had 100 v 139 new visitor sessions during February 2018, a decrease of 28% over the same period in 2017. The total visitor sessions included 728 v 627 Page Views, some of which were repeated views of a single page. This was an increase of 16%. The average number of pages viewed during each session was 4.95 v 3.20 which may have also included repeated views of a single page. The international average is > 2 page views. The average duration per session i.e., the length of each session or time a visitor or user is engaged, increased by 1.97% over the comparative period being 04:18 v 04:13 minutes. Finally, the Bounce Rate which is where a visitor left the SMA site after landing on an entrance page but did not choose to interact with that page. The bounce rate in February 18 was 55.78% v 60.20% which is 7.34% less than in Feb 17. Generally speaking < 50% is what is acceptable internationally. Many thanks to Ron Anderson who has been supplying these statistics for the Newsletter. Thus allowing members to assess the success of our Web Site. Unfortunately Ron has had to retire from the Web Sub-committee so this will probably be our last report. In the newsletter 6

Starting in April we are going to trial a themed painting award at monthly meetings; while it will not make you rich it will encourage you to show your work to colleagues and get some helpful and constructive feedback. April s topic is Still Life ; May, Buildings; June, Clouds. Members will vote for their CHOICE as the winning painting 7
