Burns Council at the Stony Brook LI Vets Home needs your help to bring Catholic Veterans from their rooms to Sunday Mass on the Fourth Sunday of every month. Many are in wheelchairs and require this assistance. You would not be committing to every 4th Sunday, just the Sundays you are available to volunteer. You would arrive between 9:45-10am, and assist in transporting those who wish to go to mass. Mass is approximately 10:45-11:15am. Then you would assist in transporting our Vets back to their respective units, which should be completed by 11:45am. Your family members and friends are also welcome to volunteer for this much needed and appreciated service for our brother knights and other Catholic Vets. Keller s Korner Ask Eligible Men to Join Vol. 30 Number 6 Today, I want to address the growth of the Order. Membership growth is the fuel that keeps this great fraternal engine running. All of our charitable works at the council, state, national and international level are thanks to our hard-working members. And more members equal more charity. We know that the membership blitz is a tried and true way for councils to get more men to join. We see these pushes often in March, in celebration of Founder s Day, and again in October. These drives are successful because brother Knights have increased visibility speaking or presenting during and after Masses and at special events. We must remember that we have a duty to ask each and every Catholic gentleman to join our ranks for the good of the Church, the community and the Order. During the rest of the year, we (including myself) often forget to ask men to join and to bring their families into the Knights of Columbus family. You probably know an eligible Catholic man you could ask today. What if the only reason he hasn t joined is because no one has asked him yet? When telling a prospect about the strengths of the Order, don t forget our greatest fraternal benefit: our insurance program. This is often a selling point to a potential member who is on the fence. Many members become Knights simply to be able to buy coverage to protect their family. Soon after, they realize the good our charitable works do for their community, and they are proud to be members. As your professional Knights of Columbus insurance agent, I look forward to helping us grow in fraternity in any way that I can. The Knights off Columbus now offer term insurance until age 80! Introducing the Accelerator Term Life Series This term insurance plan offers coverage for 10, 15 and 20 year initial term periods. Up to age 80! The face amount automatically increases a set dollar amount each year for the first five years, with the final face amount equal to 125% of the original contract amount. The insured may elect to opt out of the automatic increases annually. Premiums will remain level for the initial term period, except for the corresponding premium increases with the automatic increases in face amount during the first five years. These plans are available to insurable applicants between the ages of 18 and 70, although not all plans are offered to all issue ages. Minimum coverage amount is $100,000. Members who elect to purchase policies with coverage amounts of more than $250,000 or more, and who meet stricter underwriting criteria, may be eligible for reduced premium rates. I will be happy to explain the eligibility criteria for the reduced premium rates. Conversion benefits are also available during the conversion period which ends on the contract date nearest the insured s 65th birthday, or the end of the initial term period, whichever comes first. For full details about this exciting new term product please contact me. Alex Keller FICF 631-226-3831 alex.keller@kofc.org Page 5
