Amen. Weekly Prayer and Reflection 31 st Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year B Mark 12: 28-34 Reflection taken from Cafod Children s Liturgy Jesus tells us that there are two very important commandments that we should follow. The first is to Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is to love our neighbour as ourselves. Who is your neighbour? Zin Thu Thu lives in a village in Myanmar. Everyone in her village works together to make sure everyone is cared for. They are very good neighbours. Some time ago a very big storm hit the village causing a lot of damage and hurting a lot of people. The villagers didn t know what to do. They were completely unprepared for what happened. With the help of CAFOD they were able to rebuild their village. More importantly, they have been preparing for what to do if a bad storm every hits again. Even in Zin Thu Thu s school they have lessons about how to keep safe in a storm. Myanmar is a very long way from our country, so why do you think that CAFOD is helping this village? You have neighbours in your street who live near you. If something happened in your street you would probably all help each other. Can you be neighbours with someone who lives such a long way away? Is it just as important to care for people who you may never see? All people around the world were made by God. And God loves us all very much. There is only one sun, one sky, one world. We share all these with one another. We are all part of one big global family. We are all neighbours. Jesus asks us to love our neighbours. How do you think we can show love for our neighbours here? And how can we show love for our neighbours around the world?
Parking This morning a silver Toyota registration GX16 0CZ was observed behaving in a very dangerous manner. It had stopped in front of the church gates, then reversed all the way back to the school entrance, reversed into our drive and then drove off. It brought all the traffic to a standstill and could have very easily injured a child. All parents are asked not to drive along The Green but to park in either the church car park or the surrounding streets whilst being respectful of our neighbours drives and not blocking the road. Thank you for your co-operation. Football Tournament On Thursday 18 th October we took part in a football tournament at Cranford Community College. We played seven matches and won them all! We started off with a 2-0 win; Maks and Mihnea scored. Surprisingly, we won 4-0 against Westbrook B our rivals. Amazingly, we then beat Beavers B 7-0. We then defeated Cranford 2-0 in a shocking 2 minutes! Bryan and Maks scored. We had a great time. Our team was Christopher, Kacper, Zuzanna, Mason, Mihnea, Bryan, Ciaran, Maks, Fabian and Daniel. 3B Class Mass On Tuesday 30 th October, Fr Luigi and Brother Richie came into school and led 3B s class mass. We also invited our parents and Mrs Paczek to attend. Before the Mass we had to prepare by selecting readings and writing our own intentions. Some children were selected to read including our class apostle, Kathryn. We also sang hymns giving thanks to God. We would like to thank Fr Luigi and Brother Richie for leading us in prayer. Written by 3B All Saint s Day Throughout the entire month of November, we recall our deceased relatives, friends, and all the faithful departed who may yet be waiting for the full joy of heaven in purgatory. We pray for them, remembering that likewise, these people (being purified) have the power to intercede for us too. November 1 st is the feast of All Saints when we remember all saints and martyrs, known and unknown, throughout Christian history. For the feast of All Saints, Fr Luigi celebrated Mass for the parish and our school community. We reflected on our calling to become saints and how we can always seek the intercession of the saints who have gone before us who are now in Heaven. We also remembered and prayed for our loved ones who have died. Some teachers from the school read the readings while the children from year 5 were altar servers.
2018 Poppy Appeal This week and next week we are supporting the British Legion Poppy Appeal by selling the poppies in school. Our Year 5 children visit all the classes in the afternoon. This year is the centenary of the end of World War 1. Thank you for your support. We are pleased to let you know that we are participating in The Red Box Project. What is the Red Box Project? It is a community project set up to provide period products to young people. They collect donations of period products and new pairs of pants from members of the public and they take them to schools and other youth hubs. They deliver the items in Red Boxes, which schools keep in a safe place for students who need them. Further information is available on: Web: www.redboxproject.org Facebook: facebook.com/theredboxprojectuk Instagram: @theredboxprojectuk Email: redboxprojecuk@gmai.com Nasal Flu Immunisation On Monday 5 th November all children in Reception up to Yr 5 will receive a Flu Nasal Spray consent form.
