November 2018 Chaplain s Corner As we get closer to the holidays and Holy Days, we need to focus on an important human characteristic to celebrating the true meaning of Thanksgiving, Christmas or Easter. It is an essential element of good choosing and of faithfulness to a covenant with God. It is remembering! Unless we remember the life challenging and life sacrificing events of those who came to this country to establish a place where Religious Liberty could be found, we will not realize the deeper meaning of the Thanksgiving Holiday. If we do not remember the sacrifice the Son of God made to lay aside His Eternal Glory and become a man, we will not realize the deeper meaning of Christmas. If we do not remember the covenants God has made, we will forget our covenant duties. We need to remember each covenant from the original Creation Covenant of Genesis where we are made in the Divine image and likeness and are to model ourselves after God s choices for the good in every step of creation. We are to remember each one up to the New Covenant in Jesus Blood, where He ask us to Do this in remembrance of me!. To celebrate our covenant with God in Jesus, we need to do more than celebrate mass on Christmas and Easter. We need to do as He did at the Last Supper and on the cross. We must give ourselves so others can get past sin to have a relationship with the Father where they too, in Jesus, grow in image and likeness of God. be of service to your work of saving people for eternal life with You. Amen. Fr. Michael Grand Knight VOTE on November 5th! Also, our business meeting will take place right after the polls close at the council home at 8 pm. NOTE THE CHANGE. The Tootsie Roll program is now over and many thanks to those who put time in. Special thanks to Paul Zarachowicz and all the captains who set up at the collection points. Paul says that Jack Fuchs and Tony Lamancusa were a big help this year counting money and stepping up when needed. Pictures of some brothers giving Tootsie Rolls are included. Final totals are being counted and will be reported at the business meeting. To do so we must remember all Jesus did for us. The Holy Spirit is given to help us remember and give thanks. A prayer for Thanksgiving might be: Holy Spirit of the love between Jesus and the Father, please help us remember all Jesus taught and did as an example of living in God s image and likeness. In Him, may we come to trust you Father as Jesus did and 1

Thank you for your support. Fraternal Benefits Think You Are Too Old for Coverage? Maybe Not You are never too young or too old to consider purchasing life insurance. If you have a financial need for coverage, or will in the future, a permanent life insurance policy can be just the thing you need. When you are young and presumably healthy, coverage will be very inexpensive when compared to purchasing the same policies when you are older. If you ve put off purchasing coverage, or you realize that you may need additional insurance, the Order may still be able to help you, even if other companies cannot. In fact, in 2012, the issue age of our permanent life insurance products was extended to age 80, and in 2014, the issue age of our term insurance was extended to age 70. Naturally, your health, and whether or not you smoke, will be taken into consideration, so underwriting standards for risk and age apply. But, the extensions are a great blessing for me and it could be for you too. Now I can help members that I couldn t help before. Are you or one of your brother knights one of those members? Whether you re 18 or 80, the Knights of Columbus has products that will work for you and your family. I look forward to discussing coverage with you. Edward A. O Keefe, CLU, ChfC, 410-569-6141 Edward.okeefe@kofc.org http://okeefefinancialplanning.com A special invitation to all our Fraternal Brothers, please come and join us in our monthly business and social meetings. Your input is vital to the success of our council and we really need your help and talent to continue and improve our programs. If you are good friends with a brother who has not been attending our business or social meetings, please invite him to attend. 4
Perry Point Program The Bel Air Council will be assisting patients at Perry Point on the first Sundays of the month. We will once again be looking for help on the first Sunday of November (4th) for our turn to aid the patients at Perry Point. If you would like to join us, we leave from the McDonalds on 543 in Riverside at 9:30 AM, or you may want to join us at the Chapel in Perry Point at 10:00 AM. Mass is at 10:30 AM. After returning the patients to their various buildings, we usually return to Riverside by noon. If you are unable to help with patients, you are very welcome to join us at Mass. If you want more information call Tom Sutera at (410) 638-1096 or Pat Dolan at (410) 679-7058. Our thanks to all of our members, wives, and friends that help us aid our veterans each month. God Bless All of You. Tom Sutera Church Activities Don t forget St. Mark will hold its Christmas blood drive on Thursday, December 13 in the White Hall Building. We will need assistance in signing parishioners after the Masses on the two weekends prior to the actual blood drive which will be held in the White Hall Building. If you are able and in good health, please consider giving the gift of life. This is possibly the best Christmas present you could give a total stranger. May God bless you for your generosity. Please call me or email me if you are interested in helping with this important and vital project. Youth Activities As stated in the October issue of the Councilairs, we will be hosting a dinner for the Altar Servers and their families at St. Mark on Saturday, November 17. Each altar server will receive a certificate of appreciation for their participation in this important ministry. We are currently forming the serving teams for this event as well as the St. Margaret Altar Server Dinner which will be held on Saturday, December 8. If you would like to help, please call Joe Pisani at 443-955-9428. We will have a lot of fun, I promise. St. Margaret School is working on the KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS POSTER CONTEST.
