Raimondo Hall to schedule your masses. There are a few changes in the procedure and they are as follows: At the first session on June 30th,You may schedule 2 Sunday (including vigil) Masses and/or 3 weekday Masses No Masses in honor of Saints After this session the book will reopen at a later date. At that time you may come into the Rectory and schedule other Masses. Look for an announcement in the bulletin later this summer. In total you may schedule: No more than 5 weekend Masses per deceased name per year No more than 5 weekday Masses per deceased name per year *The cost of a 2019 Mass is now $20 Mass Cards for 2019 Masses are: $20 for the small card $25 for the large card You may also schedule unannounced Masses which retired priests say at their residences. These Masses are $10 without a Mass card and $15 with a Mass Card. There is no limit for these Masses. Vincent Taglienti Deacon Joseph Weckbach OUR SCRIPTURE READING AT MASS THIS WEEKEND The Book of Isaiah Chap 49 Verses 1-6 I will make you a light to the nations. Brothers and Sisters, If you re looking for some good summer reading, I have a few recommendations for you. First, I d like to suggest a small spiritual book by Fr. John Burns called Lift Up Your Heart. This work is based on the classic Introduction to the Devout Life by St. Francis De Sales. There are ten meditations to be prayed over ten days a sort of mini retreat. I think it s an excellent and simple way to learn about holiness and loving God. Fr. Burns does a superb job of outlining a daily prayer routine in the midst of a busy life. A second suggestion is the book Why We re Catholic by Trent Horn. Again, this is an easy to read work but it deals with many tough questions that Catholics have to face. Why do we believe God exists? Why are Priests celibate? What is Purgatory like? Why do we have hope for the future? This book is a gem and a wonderful read for anyone who wonders about these issues. Finally, what kind of brother would I be if I didn t recommend my own brothers book? My older brother Anthony DeStefano (who has learned so much from me) has recently written an excellent book called Inside the Atheist Mind. This was not written as a work of apologetics or as an attempt to explain our beliefs to non-believers. Actually, it s a book about how irrational, ridiculous and, quite candidly, how foolish and obstinate most atheists are. I can honestly tell you that it s a great book and an eye-opener. Anthony has been on EWTN many times and also on Fox and Friends. He has also written many children s books with Christian themes. Of course, I am very proud of my brother.
