In spite of these challenges, Catholicism is flourishing amid these harsh circumstances. The 2 nd collection next week will assist in the delivery of basic pastoral care including religious education, seminary formation, youth ministry and care for the sick. All persons 18 years of age and older, up to including their 59 th birthday, are bound to fast by limiting themselves to a single full meal on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, while the other two meals on those days are to be light. All the faithful are encouraged, when possible, to participate at Mass and to receive Holy Eucharist daily, to frequently attend the Sacrament of Penance, to undertake spiritual reading, especially sacred scripture and to participate in parish Lenten devotions. Marriage Preparation Day /Pre Cana Class: The next Pre Cana class will be on Saturday, April 7, 2018 here at St. Philip. Operation Rice Bowl: During Lent SPN will participate in CRS Rice Bowl, a faith-in-action program that invites us to encounter our neighbor, as companions on the journey, through prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Rice Bowls are at the entrances of the church, we will collect your CRS Rice Bowls at the end of Lent, thank you for participating with your family. A Casual Walk through the Old Testament: Join our Seminarians David Buffam and Carson Kane along with Father Anthony for a relaxing and enjoyable Bible Study. Next meeting is March 1st at 7PM in the rectory conference room as we casually explore the Sacred Scriptures and apply them to our daily lives.
