Psalm The waters of the river gladden the city of God, the holy dwelling of the Most High (Psalm 46). Second Reading Do you not know that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? (1 Corinthians 3:9c-11, 16-17). Gospel Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up (John 2:13-22). Please pray for the peaceful repose of the souls of Gloria Miller (mother of Bill Miller), Mary Ann Kennedy (mother of Dale Kennedy) and Mary Skocz (sister of Gretchen Cararie) who recently passed away and are enjoying everlasting life. Deceased Eucharistic Adoration Day On Wednesday, December 3, we will begin a monthly Eucharistic Adoration Day. The monthly Eucharistic Adoration Day will be scheduled on the first Wednesday of each month, with some exceptions. The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed from 9:00 am - 6:45 pm, followed by the Jesus wants us all to come to Him in the Blessed Sacrament. He is there is person, just wai ng for you. Nowhere on Earth are you more welcome, nowhere on Earth are you more loved, than by Jesus truly present in the Blessed Sacrament. -Mother Theresa 7:00 pm Mass. This is a great opportunity for us to spend some personal time with Our Lord during this special day. Sometimes the burdens of our lives can be so demanding, that the Lord asks us to let Him help us carry them. The Temple and Worship In all of today s readings, the temple is prominently mentioned. Ezekiel speaks of streams of living water flowing out from the temple, watering the desert, bringing life to all living things, offering fresh healing to God s people. Paul reminds the Corinthians that their faith rests upon the firmest of foundations, Christ himself. More than that, Paul reveals that those who follow Christ are themselves temples, temples of the Holy Spirit; that is, God dwells not only with them, but in them. For the Jews of Jesus time, the temple had come to be identified with the presence of God and the only place where authentic worship of God took place. Jesus had a different perception. Jesus identified Himself not with the temple, but as the temple. In so doing, Jesus indicated a dramatic shift in what it means to worship God, to be in God s presence. No longer was a place to be the focus of prayer. Instead, a person, the person of Jesus Christ, becomes the center of our worship. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co.
