POOL PARTY Keep your eyes peeled. There is a Pool Extravaganza headed your way in August. See the August newsletter for more details. KOVAR Results Our KOVAR drive is over for the year. Thanks to a wonderful bunch of brother Knights, some wives and children we were able to beat our goal of $2,769. We collected $3,204 from our five KOVAR Teams and in total from all sources turned in $4,075. Great job!!! It is important to remember that every penny that went into our jugs as we stood outside the Kroger, WalMart or Sam's Club will help to enrich the lives of God's Special People! This is especially important during these tough economic times. It looks like overall donations this year will be off from previous years. Greg Smith, Club Manager for the Sam's Club at Town Square Blvd. in Roanoke, is shown receiving a framed Certificate of Appreciation for providing a solicitation site for KOVAR. Don Feick, on the right, made the presentation on behalf of Knights of Columbus Council #562. Sam's Club was one of the KOVAR drive locations during the recent very successful drive for funds to be used in assisting our citizens with Intellectual Disabilities. Mr. Smith expressed how pleased he and the rest of the Sam's Club employees were to be a part of such a worthwhile effort to help "Gods Special People". Brother Feick told Mr. Smith that by publicizing the wonderful cooperation of businesses like Sam' Club in the Knightly News, we were encouraging our members to patronize our KOVAR partners. Thanks again to all five teams which were led by Jim Donkers, Bill Howard, Ed Myers, Mike Whelan and Don Feick. Double thanks to the brothers who worked multiple shifts for more than one team!! You were noticed and appreciated for your extra effort!
