Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church Fr. Tony O Neill, Pastor 2385 Commerce Blvd. Mound, MN 55364 952.472.1284 ourladyofthelake.com June 4 th, 2017 Pentecost Sunday To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. Dear Brothers and Sisters, - 1 Corinthians 12:7 This weekend we celebrate the feast of Pentecost and with it the end of the Easter season. As we observe this great feast, we don t celebrate simply a historical event. We celebrate the fact that we have been given the same Holy Spirit as the disciples. We have the same Holy Spirit within us that filled the disciples at Pentecost. The thing about the Holy Spirit is that it s not a onetime deal - The Spirit wants to be active in our lives on a daily basis, He wants to speak to us and guide us. Let us pray earnestly for a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit in our own lives, in our parish and in our world. We have concluded another very successful year in our school. I am very happy with the wonderful progress we have made this year and look forward to even greater things next school year. May this summer be for all of us a time to know the great love that God has for each of us and to show that love to the world. We are delighted to welcome Fr. Bryce Evans this weekend to celebrate his Mass of Thanksgiving. Please pray for him as he begins his priestly ministry. God bless, Fr. Tony Lake Minnetonka Shores We are in need of additional volunteers at Lake Minnetonka Shores. Are you available one Thursday morning a month to help with this ministry? Mystery: The experience of mystery which liturgy offers is found in its God-consciousness and God-centeredness. One should be able to sense something special (and nothing trivial) in everything that is seen and heard, touched and smelled, and tasted in liturgy. (Environment and Art in Catholic Worship) All of us have been baptized into one and the same Spirit. That same Spirit, the Advocate, our comfort and refreshment, was given as a gift to the disciples to strengthen them to go forth in the name of the Lord, to renew the face of the earth (Ordo). As God s holy people, we are enlivened by the Holy Spirit. Happy Pentecost! Light for the Week: The love of God has been poured into our hearts through the Spirit of God dwelling within us, Alleluia. (Entrance Antiphon for Pentecost) We remember our beloved deceased, Jim Thibault and John Richardt. May they rest in God s peace.
