PAGE 4 Readings October 7, 2018 27th Sunday in Genesis 2: 18-24 Hebrews 2: 9-11 Mark 10: 2-16 St. Vincent de Paul Second Collection Next Week In today s Gospel, Jesus discusses the subject of the hardness of heart and the acceptance of the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God belongs not to those with hard hearts but the innocent ones who keep themselves turned toward God and who accepts it like a child. Let us unharden our hearts and think of others in these times. Please pray for the poor and the suffering, knowing that we have the power to help and bring love and peace of God to those who may not know the Word of God. If someone takes an innocent person s life after he or she is born, it s against the law; before birth (even minutes before, in most states), it s legal because of the U.S. Supreme Court Roe v. For many, abortion causes severe Active Shooter Program The Parish Council is sponsoring an Active Shooter Program conducted by the Gwinnett County Police Department. HEADS OF MINISTRIES MEETING MINUTES The first order of business was for every ministry leader present to give a quarterly report about the ministry he or she represents. Each ministry representative gave an updated, detailed report about achievements, progress, and future plans for the ministry. According to the reports of the leaders present at the meeting, their ministries have been steadily developing with positive results. Each leader gave a summary of the upcoming activities planned for their ministry. More information about the activities will be offered in Church announcements and published in the Church s bulletin. The picnic organizers gave an update about the upcoming activity on Sunday, September 30 at Bethesda Park. Fr. Tomy informed that there will be an open Mass at 12:30 p.m. at the Park Pavilion. The Potluck Ministry informed the group that the Wednesdays potluck will resume in October. October Fair. There will be a Ministries Fair on the weekend of October 20th and 21st in the Farabaugh Hall after the following Masses: Saturday 5:30 p.m.; Sunday 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. No fair after the 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Information about each ministry will be provided in a catalog to give parishioners an opportunity to choose a ministry in which they can participate. Fr. Tomy informed the current ministries leaders that they have to renew their commitment to their ministry, and suggested that each leader and parishioner does not take up more than two ministries. It was suggested that those ministries that are not active at this time be eliminated. Parish Commitment. Fr. Tomy informed the audience that on the first weekend of November there will be a Treasure Commitment in which parishioners will pledge to contribute a determined amount of money to support the Church. Letters will be sent out before the Treasure Commitment weekend. Father Tomy thanked the ministries leaders for their commitment before concluding the meeting with a prayer at 8:30 p.m. Respectfully submitted by Inocencia Marvin
