13th Sunday in Ordinary Time PAGE 2 From the Pastor s Desk Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, With love from your Pastor! This is the first weekend with our new schedule. I have received more compliments, and also a couple of people came to me with their concerns regarding the new schedule. I know some of us are used to certain es and are emotionally connected with it and the people who attend those es. Certainly, it is difficult to part with those situations, moments, and even people. It can sometimes disturb us and throw us off our comfort zones and make us uncomfortable. It can be a challenge to some of us, and I feel it as part of the community. I would like to let you all know that these changes are not meant to make any of us feel uncomfortable. It is a need (sometimes a challenge) that we have to face gracefully and happily as part of the process of growing and moving forward as a community. We have to move to a thriving mode as a parish community from where we are currently. Now we have a Mission and a Vision, which means we know where we are and where we want to be. We need to move together and march forward to where we really want to be as a Catholic parish, therefore I need you, and we need each other to strengthen, to encourage, to motivate, and to move forward sharing our strengths and challenges. My special thanks to all of you for adjusting to the new schedule and moving forward as a Parish community to make it a living, loving, vibrant, and Eucharistic community. Thank you and God bless. Our New Ministries Potluck with the Pastors We are starting a new ministry called Potluck with the Pastors, beginning from the month of July. It is meant to build up our parish community and create a living, loving, vibrant, and Eucharistic community by sharing a common meal and to foster spiritual and healthy relationship between the Pastors and the faithful of our community. It will be on the 2 nd Wednesday of every month, beginning on July 11 th, after the evening, at 7:15 pm, in Farabaugh Hall. This is a potluck meal where everybody is encouraged to bring some food where we can share and spend some quality time with one another as members of our parish family, which is our Second Home. This will also be an opportunity for recognizing the birthdays of those of us who are celebrating their birthdays in that particular month. We will also try to offer the intention of that particular day for those celebrating birthdays. The coordinator of this ministry is Mercedes Baldwin, and she will be available at Farabaugh Hall by 5:00 pm so that you may drop off your food. Sign up sheets will also be available in the Narthex two weeks prior to the event so that you can sign up for the dish you are planning to bring. Mercedes can be reached at 770-317-3794. Welcome Ministry We are launching an additional new ministry next month. The Welcome Ministry will recognize the presence of newly registered parishioners within our church community, our Second Home, by inviting them to a welcome reception. New parishioners who registered within the 1st year of Fr. Tomy's pastorate, July 2017-July 2018 will be invited to the very first Welcome reception to be held on Saturday, August 4th immediately following the 5:30 pm in Farabaugh Hall. Welcome kits containing necessary information and documents from our parish will be given to each family. Diana Shepherd is the coordinator of this ministry. Hereafter, she will organize quarterly receptions for the newcomers of our parish. If you are interested in joining this ministry, Diana can be reached at 678-873-3973. It is with gratitude and appreciation that the newly formed CANCER CARE MINISTRY of St. Marguerite d'youville thanks all of our parishioners and visitors who participated in the raffle held the past two weekends. The winner of the week stay at Surf Sider Resort in Pompano Beach, Florida is Elizabeth Nkereuwem. A special thanks to Bob Pennington who donated his time share to help launch this important ministry to our parish. Although in its' infancy, this is the beginning of being able to help some of our parishioners with a small financial boost with their staggering medical costs. We were humbled and overwhelmed with the stories of survivors who battled and overcame many types of cancer. We were also saddened by the stories of those who lost their battle. And, we will be calling on those who expressed an interest in this ministry, as we set a date for our first planning meeting. All of your experiences, whether personal or professional will be important, as we move forward to help our parishioners suffering with cancer with financial, spiritual or emotional support. Please let the office know if you would like to participate in any way, and someone in our Cancer Care Ministry will call you. Our teens had lots of fun at their outing at the laser show on June 13!
