He is getting his energy back and we are feeling normal again!! We appreciate the prayers, cards and calls from all the ROAM family. God has been so good!" Harold Allen, who has been a ROAM member since 2004, and involved with administering the organization since 2006, has resigned as Executive Director. The ROAM Board, at its annual meeting in October, accepted his resignation with regret, praised him for his important roles beginning as office manager and named him Executive Consultant Emeritus. In other business at the annual meeting, the board: Established start dates for projects in 2015 and Projects will begin on the first Monday of each month except for December 2015, when they will begin Nov. 30, and November 2016, when they will begin Oct. 31, and December 2016, when they will begin Nov. 28. Approved raises for the office manager and the office assistant. Voted to change the ROAM by-laws to allow the board to consider approving projects outside the Church of the Nazarene. This followed a discussion about a possible project at the Life Change Camp in Clinton, Mo., which also was approved, pending the by-laws change. Established a By-laws and Policy Committee of David Wheelock, chairman; Jean Morford, Lutrecia Church and Dean Brickey. Agreed to require secondary FBI background checks on ROAMers if the camp or church requests it, and the ROAMer's background check is over 5 years old Decided to conduct the next annual meeting in Kansas City, Mo., on Sept , "Thank You" to the Board Members completing their terms on the ROAM board. 3 3 of 6 12/16/ :21 AM ROAM Board welcomes new members, elects officers KANSAS CITY, Mo. - ROAM has seven new board members and elected new officers for The ROAM Board welcomed the new board members at its annual meeting Oct. 17, which was conducted online via WebEx with Chairman Mert Winkle presiding. Rejoining the board is Dean Brickey of Harbor, Ore. New on the board are Dan and Lutrecia Church of Bella Vista, Ark., and Al and Charlene Hawkins of Fillmore, Ind. All were elected to three-year terms. Chuck and Ginny Hampton of Linn Valley, Kan. are finishing up Elbert and Iritia's three-year term. Retiring ROAM board members are Rich and Kathy Detterline of Eagleville, Pa., Eugene and Merrilee Morrell of Bend, Ore., Elbert and Irita Rice of Red Oak, Texas, and Jim and Joy Stewart of Mountain Home, Texas. ROAM Board members also elected Dean Brickey as chairman for He and his late wife, Maggy, served on the board as Southwest Directors in 2013 and he was elected chairman for 2014, but resigned in early January after Maggy was diagnosed with terminal cancer. She went to be with the Lord in February. The ROAM board elected Mert Winkle of Loganville, Ga., (chairman for the past several years), as vice chairman for Jean Morford of Osage City, Kan., was elected as secretary and David Wheelock of Longmont, Colo. as treasurer. Board members Linda Lewis of Ozark, Mo., and Ed Kile of Caro, Mich., volunteered to serve on the Executive Committee with Dean Brickey, Mert Winkle and Jean Morford. Beginning in 2015, ROAM will return to the eight regions it had previously, the board decided, eliminating the Tri-State Region, which comprised Colorado, New Mexico and South Texas. Board members approved these regions and the following regional assignments. Brickey Greetings, ROAMers, again. I am thankful to God to have been elected chairman of ROAM for As you may remember, a year ago I addressed you in this space as your new chairman, but within a month I had resigned. I'm so thankful Mert Winkle came out of "retirement" to lead ROAM this year after I left because of Maggy's illness and death. He did a great job, despite having a myriad of personal and family health issues.

4 4 of 6 12/16/ :21 AM Because I'm starting over, I'm proposing the same goals for 2015: Increase awareness about ROAM. The board plans to revise the ROAM video and has established a committee to work on it. Serving with me will be new director Lutrecia Church, Mert Winkle and Jean Morford. We've asked Ron Howard of the Kansas City First Church to help. Increase membership. If each member would recruit one new member in 2015, just think what that would do to our workforce! Increase financial support. If each member would commit to donate a little extra each month or each year to this ministry, it would greatly expand our capabilities. Our part-time office staff is stretched thin. We need to increase our revenue. We already have begun exploring the possibility of grants to bolster our budget. We often use the Roman Road, a collection of verses from Paul's letter to the Romans, to help bring people to Christ. I propose using the ROAM'n ROAD to help achieve our goals for 2015: RADIATE your love for ROAM. Near your work sites and homes, find other Nazarene churches where you can share the ROAM video and an encouraging message about our ministry. ORGANIZE your travels so you will be near Nazarene churches on Sundays and Wednesdays so you can share ROAM's message. ADVERTISE our ministry by wearing ROAM gear and displaying ROAM signs on your vehicles. DONATE to the ministry annually, quarterly or monthly as you are able. I pray each of you has a prosperous and productive 2015, whether you're full-timers who work throughout the year or travel for only one project. Be safe, and remember to set a good example for others as Paul admonished Titus: "Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order to provide for urgent needs and not live unproductive lives" (Titus 3:14). Share what you have done in ROAM. Even if you are not a writer, share the information and we will make it into an interesting story. Send pictures with the names of the people in them and a description of what is going on. Send to the ROAM office. ROAM dues It's time to renew your membership in ROAM. Your membership is a valuable asset, not only to ROAM ministry in general, but to the churches, schools and camps that need your help. Brickey BROOKINGS, Ore. - Randy Woods and his family joined me in October at Brookings, where we dressed up the church foyer with paint, new light fixtures and new communications tools. While roofing contractors replaced the building's aging shingles, we worked inside to repair water damage that had occurred on the ceiling and walls in a few places. That involved removing damaged and discolored ceiling and wall texture, re-texturing and repainting. While we were at it, Pastor Tim Lourash decided to change the color of the walls, so we painted the large foyer and hallway to the Fellowship Hall. Randy outworked me considerably, but I had a good excuse, being called for jury duty on four of the 12 days we worked together. That's one of the hazards of being a "resident ROAMer." While I was involved in truth, justice and the American way, Randy and his children, Michael, Tasha and Samuel, and ROAM Buddy Scott Sanders, hung new chandeliers and sconces in the foyer, finished painting, ran wire and cables for two large-screen TVs and removed some rope lights from the ceiling of the sanctuary. The Woodses took advantage of much of what the Southern Oregon coast has to offer during their free time. They enjoyed the beach, visited an old car show in nearby Crescent City, Calif., and rode four-wheelers on Oregon's famous coastal sand dunes. During our last week on the job, we re-did some ceiling texture that didn't look quite right, replaced light bulbs in fixtures high in the sanctuary, hung a second TV bracket and installed the two large-screen TVs, which replaced four bulletin boards in the foyer and hallway. Pastor Tim was pleased with what we accomplished, and we received numerous compliments from the congregation as they witnessed the changes taking place during the month.
