2 ** OBITUARY *# On Tuesday evening, September 5,1995, as our dear Savior was reviewing His garden of beauty, love, and everlasting life. He noticed a vacant area. It was then He summoned His angel of death to the bedside of Mrs. Ardella Kitchens Oliver and that angel whispered gently and sofuy, Well done thy good and faithful servant; you have fought the battle, you have earned the victory, enter into thy Master s joy." ArdeDa s earthly sojourn began March 7,1927 in Falrhope, Alabama. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Junlus (Edith) Kitchens. She rect ved her early education In the school system of Falrhope. Alabama. Ambitious as Ardella was, she moved to Augusta, Georgia, to pursue her educational goals and entered the Lamar School of Nursing at University Hospital where she received a degree in nursing in Ardella began her nursing career at University Hospital concluding her career at Augusta s Veterans Administration Medical Center where she retired after 40 years of dedicated service. Ardella was a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Her love for Christ and her untiring spiritual commitmentwasajoytoallsheserved. She was a member of the following: Deaconess Board; Lydla Bible Class; Welfare Committee; and, the Baptismal Group. She also served as the president of the March Birthday Club. Ardella experienced great joy in her membership at Health Central (University Hospital) where she actively participated in an exercise protocol. She was a member of the Lamar Nurses Group and was actively involved in the plans for their upcoming reunion to be held in October, Ardella wore a radiant smile that attracted people from all walks of life and her serene personality was a pleasure to all she encountered. If she could speak from the portals of heaven she would sweetly whisper to all she knew: When I must leave you far a little while Please do not grieve and shed wild tears. And hug your sorrow to you through the years, But start out bravely with a gallant smile; And far my sake and in my name Live on and do all things the same. Feed not your loneliness on empty days. But Jill each waking hour in useful ways Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer And I in turn will comfort you and hold you near And never, never be ajraul to die, For I am waiting for you in the SKY! Ardella s husband, the late Staff Sgt. George A. Oliver, preceded her m death after 33 years of marriage. Their union was blessed with two daughters. As we pause today to celebrate the life of Ardella, let us prayfudy remember her survivors who wffl forever cherish her loving memories: two daughters; Anita O. Wimberly, Flint. Michigan. Georgejean O. McKenzie, Augusta. Ga.; one sister, Edythe K. Miller, Bronx, New York; four grandchildren; Rodney Johnson, Atlanta. Ga.. Lea McKenzie, Arthur McKenzie. Jr.. both of Augusta. Ga.; Oliver Gamal Sanders, Flint, Michigan; one granddaughter-in-law, Sharman Johnson; two sons-in-law; Film Wlmberry. Jr.. Flint. Michigan. Ret. Master Sgt. Arthur McKenzie. Sr.. Augusta. Ga.; devoted kindred; Gwendolyn Oliver. Louise Oliver, Robert Oliver; godchildren; Cheryl Frazier Williams, Atlanta. Georgia. Floyd Morris, Augusta. Ga. She will also be remembered by her decoted nieces, nephews, special friends, and other relatives.

5 Mrs. Ardella Oliver Retired nurse Mrs. Ardella K. Oliver, of 517 Dupont St., died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 1995, at St. Joseph Hospital. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Tabernacle Baptist Church, with Dr. C.S. Hamilton of ficiating. Burial will be in Walker Memorial Park. Mrs. Oliver, a native of Fairhope, Ala., was a regis tered nurse with 40 years of service at De partment of Veterans Af fairs Medical Center. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Deaconess Board, Lydia Bi ble Class, Welfare Committee, Baptismal Group and president of March Birthday Club. She re ceived her nursing degree from Lamar School of Nursing at Uni versity Hospital. She was also a member of Lamar Nurses Group. Survivors include two daugh ters, Anita 0. Wimberly, Flint, Mich., Georgejean 0. McKenzie, Augusta; a sister, Edythe K. Mill er, Bronx, N.Y.; and four grand children. Pallbearers will be Elbert Pope, Gregory Shields, James Riles, Leonard Betts, Frank Sams, John Prioleau, Felton Der rick Neely and Jerry Brooks. Honorary pallbearers will be Lamar Nurses Group, deacons of Tabernacle Baptist Church and Lydia Bible Class. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Williams Funeral Home.
