1 Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church Council Wednesday, July 11, :00 PM I. The REGULAR MEETING OF THE OELC COUNCIL WAS CALLED TO ORDER by President Traci Loonstra at 7 PM on Wednesday, May 18, Members present were: Frans Carlstom, Carol Dodge, Erin Everson, Mary Jo Halverson, John Haugen, Denny Lindell, Maggie Luallen, Dave Lundberg, Bella Nicolai, Eric Rogness and Thea Vojtik. Church Staff present were: Pastor Terry Lorenz, Dan Newman, Jim Newman, Molly Vold. II. DEVOTIONS were led by Molly Vold, Bella Nicolai and Frans Carlstom III. STAFF REPORTS A. Administrator s Report: Molly Vold ASP was GREAT! Communication o ALL committees must minutes/notes to Molly and dates of meetings/events asap AED-Automated External Defibrillator o Molly is putting together training for staff, ushers, greeters, anyone who wants to learn how to use this. EAP- Emergency Action Plan o Need to put a plan together for tornado, medical emergency, bomb threat, etc blasts- Mail chimp (Free) o Going to start doing 2-3 blasts a week to congregation to keep them updated on upcoming events. Members can unsubscribe from the list if the so choose to Nick Barka Eagle Scout Project o Nick should be finishing up his benches in July. He received many donations from businesses. Bills o Molly went over bills

Assistant Parish Administrator s Report: Deanna was absent, Eric Rogness reported on the Finances. ***Motion was made by Carol Dodge and seconded by Frans Carlstom to approve the financial report. Motion Carried. C. Pastors Report: Pastor Terry Lorenz I met with Ingrid Thompson and she has indicated that after a year's leave of absence her her medical issues have not been resolved so she is unable to continue serving as one of our custodians. Therefore she is no longer on staff as such. Nikki Barnhardt, who has been covering for Ingrid, will continue with the work she is already doing. Interim Sunday School Superintendent, Valerie Lorenz Val is making plans for coming year, calling teachers Rally Sunday, no plans for booths showcasing OELC's ministries. Rally Sunday will be rooted in the 9 a.m. worship service. Installation of teachers Commissioning of the Sunday School year Potluck meal to follow worship Upcoming Vacation Coverage Wednesday, July 18 th & 25 th Pastor Dale Moe will lead Ignite Sunday, July 15 & 22 Vern Larson will lead worship Wednesday, August 8 th & Sunday, August 12 th Pastor Jenny Hatleli Leah Reynolds is seeking to earn her Gold Award for Girl Scouts by planning, overseeing, and completing a project here at OELC. Rosemary Twesme has agreed to meet with Leah and help plan some improvements to the landscaping. Leah needs to serve 80 volunteer hours She could work mostly on weekends Leah will find volunteers and oversee the project. Her project will need to be approved by the Girl Scouts

3 High School Invited to help lead Ignite services meeting held in the fellowship hall at 7 p.m. working toward having team ready by early September Confirmation (plans of right now, not knowing about new hire) Molly Vold has volunteered to teach the 7 th Grade Class I will teach the 8 th Grade Class and will not split them as I had previously talked about doing due to size. We will need to get creative with finding space until chapel is done possibly youth room, sewing room, or creative beginnings room God's Work. Our Hands suggested date: perhaps a Saturday in September, make lists of work needed Chapel Design Committee met on July 10 th Committee volunteers: Tina & Lily Bohlinger, Valerie Lorenz, Deb Gregory, Amy McCune, Linda Mosely. John Haugen and Pastor Terry also sat in on meeting Work already completed includes the sidewalk being redone to allow for another handicap entrance and the ordering of the second powered door opener to be installed at the north entrance. We have received a gift of $1000 from the family of Iner Stensen to help with the sidewalk project. Discussion was held regarding the initial design idea and how we arrived at amounts included on the estimate proposal. Jobs that can be done by volunteers in order to reduce costs could include: removing and rebuilding walls, removing carpet and preparing floor for new, painting walls when construction is done, putting ceiling track and panels back in place. Each member was invited to submit a design plan and color scheme when we meet again on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 7 p.m in the

4 Family Room. We are planning for work to begin in early August. (work can begin before final design plans are approved) V. COMMITTEE REPORTS/MINISTRY UPDATES A. Organ Restoration-Denny Lindell Organ Committee met June 28 th, 2018 Committee members reached out to congregational members for input regarding the followng questions: historic preservation; direction for organ use in the future of our congregation; ability to secure organist in the future, worship preference ideas/styles; solution ideas (funding, 1/2/3 major benefactors) o Linda Ness Robert Rongstad, and Frans Carlstrom reported; people are in favor and like our pipe organ music. Reasons stated: tradition and history of our church; enjoy the music; beautiful piece of equipment; respect for members who have donated to original plan and cost. Conversely, at the same time members questioned how the monies would be available/fundraisers etc. to repair/fix our current organ and also, who would be available to play the organ in the future o Music styles preferences; received both expressions of: 1. Continue as we are, and/or 2. Implementation of a big screen/audio visual and music pre-recorded (at one of the services). Tasks going forward o Put together questions to ask prospective repair companies and get opinions/bids for repairs. B. Worship. Dave Lundberg Carol Dodge asked if Noisy offering could go towards backpack program for school C. Endowment- Eric Rogness Endowment hasn t met since May waiting on the Endowment Committees YES/NO vote on approval of $15, gifting to Bold Generosity campaign. o Commitment is for $5, per year over 3 year period.
