2 MD-3 Oklahoma Lions Council Chairperson Dee Carson Lion Deanna (Dee) graduated from Garber High School. She attended Enid Beauty College and received her license. She has been employed for 17 years at Cherokee Strip Transit, which provides transportation to the public. She joined Lions in She served a three year term on the Dr. Briggs Scholarship Board and a three year term on the OK Lions Boys Ranch. In 2008 she was elected to the State Convention Planning Committee and has been on this committee for six years. In 2008 she was honored with the District 3-A Hal Long Rookie of the Year. In 2012 she was selected as the District 3-A Lion of the Year. Her club has honored her with a Melvin Jones Fellowship. Her travels include a trip to World Services for the Blind, nine US/Canada Lions Leadership Forums and five LCI Conventions. She is a certified Guiding Lion, received the International President s Medal and an International President s Certificate of Appreciation. At the International Convention in Seattle, as President of her Club, she accepted the International President s Beacon Award for the Best Youth Program. Other Lions duties this year are being Treasurer of the Past District Governors Association (Boneyard), Vice President of the Lions Club in Garfield County, and an officer in her club. In addition to Lions, she is a Garber City Council member. Her husband, Jerry, is a third generation Lion, a Melvin Jones Fellow, and received the Order of the Golden Nail Award for his service and work as a member of the State Building Committee. 3 District 3-O Governor Mike Fritz Mike is a native Oklahoman having grown up in Vinita and graduated from Vinita High School. He excelled as quarterback in football and as a pitcher in baseball. His senior year he met Mary and following his freshman year at NEO A&M in Miami they were married. He received an Associates Degree in drafting and design before going on to Oklahoma State University where he received a B. S. in Education. Mike was drafted soon after graduating and served two years in the U. S. Army stationed at Ft. Bragg, N. C. He returned to Oklahoma. He and his wife have three children, Amy, Chad and Andy. They are all married with a total of four grandchildren. While living in Muskogee, Mike was asked to become a Lion in 1987 by a well known PDG, Sarge Cowan. Mike became president of the Muskogee Noon Lions in 1995 and received the 100% Presidents Leadership Award. In 1997 he was elected as Vice District Governor of 3-O and went on to serve as District Governor during For that term he was awarded the District Governors Extension Award, the Governors Excellence Award and was honored with a Melvin Jones Fellowship by his home club, Muskogee Noon. Mike has been a member of the Muskogee Noon, Van Buren, Ar., and is currently active in the Tulsa Brookside Lions. 8 District 3-K Governor Stephanie Pettett Stephanie Pettett graduated from Princeton High School in Princeton, Texas and later attended Stephen F. Austin State University. She began her married life in Plano, Texas, with husband Paul and later moved to Hawaii, where the family lived for 2 years on both Maui and Kauai islands. In 1990, Stephanie moved to her present home in the country near Lane, Oklahoma. She and Paul have 3 children (Sky, Cheyla and Wren) and a delightful granddaughter, Indiana. Stephanie has been a banker at FirstBank for 20 years, working her way from her teller position to her current position as Training Officer. Stephanie joined the Atoka Lions Club in February 2005 and has served as tail twister, board member, membership chair, vice president and president (2 terms). In 2012, Stephanie s club honored her with Lion of the Year award. District involvement for Stephanie has included serving in several positions, including zone chair and both first and second vice district governor. In 2015, Stephanie was a presenter for the MD-3 Lions of Oklahoma Governor s Training School and covered the use of Lions University. Stephanie received the International Presidential award for Membership Growth in 2014 and at the 2015 State Convention was honored by District 3-K as their Lion of the Year. In addition to her Lion activities, Stephanie has served as president of both the Atoka County Chamber of Commerce and Toastmasters Club. She is a member of the First Baptist Church. 12 District 3-L Governor Karen Blanton District Governor Karen Blanton joined Lions in 1993 but since her father was a Lion and the family traveled to lots of conventions together, she considered herself a Lion cub for several years. Although she was born in Oklahoma most of her young life was spent in Silver City, New Mexico, where she graduated from high school. In 1988 she moved back to Oklahoma with her son, the joy of her life for 29 years, and a third generation Lion who was also PDG Lora's traveling buddy on her official club visits; Karen's son was called home to the Lord a few years ago. Back home in OK Governor Karen received her Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education. 17 District 3-A Governor Joe Chandler Joe Chandler was born in Purcell, graduating from Purcell High School and then attending OK Baptist University for 1-1/2 years before going to work in the transportation industry. He retired from Santa Fe Railroad in 1990 after 34 years. Joe moved to Enid in 1958 and there he met and married Marjorie in Joe, Marjorie and her son Jimmie attend St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Enid. Joe also served as President of the Lutheran Brotherhood of the Cherokee Strip and President of the Lutheran Finical Thrivent of Northwest Oklahoma. Joe served honorably in the U. S. Army Reserves for 12 years and is a veteran. He was a charter member of the Enid A.M. Ambucs and served on the Enid Park Board for 8 years. He also enjoys bowling and playing golf and has been active in local bowling and golf associations. Joe joined the North Enid Lions Club in 2002 and in 2009 was their Lion of the Year. He served the club in several positions including President and is a Melvin Jones Fellow. He served District 3-A as zone chairperson and has moved up through the District Governor leadership team to his current position as District Governor. 21 District 3-H Governor Jacque Mooney Jacque Mooney joined Midwest City Lions Club on March 30, A little over a year later she was elected Secretary, a position she held for over 9 years. One year, she was also First Vice President. Jacque served as President of the club, finishing terms for two Presidents that took ill. She was officially elected in 2012 as the first and only woman to serve as president of Midwest City Lions Club.
