Van Dyke wrote this poem while in Williams College, Massachusetts. It was first published in 1911 by The Presbyterian Hymnal. Van Dyke wrote of this hymn: These verses are simple expressions of common Christian feelings and desires in this present time hymns of today that may be sung together by people who know the thought of the age, and are not afraid that any truth of science will destroy religion, or any revolution on earth overthrow the kingdom of heaven. Therefore this is a hymn of trust and joy and hope. The Window article deadline for the July 4th July 17th issue is June 15th at 12:00 Noon. oops... She is part of an organization called People To People and will be representing the United States as a Student Ambassador. We are asking for your thoughts and prayers for MiKayla and the other students from the United States while they are traveling abroad. MiKayla is the daughter of Jessica Atwood and the Granddaughter of Anne Cooper. FIRST: Sharon Blythe, the county Room in the Inn Coordinator, called this week to say that Fairview Baptist Church has signed on as a new host church and will be hosting the women during the July week that we had been scheduled to co-host at the Black Mountain Methodist Church. Because Room in the Inn operates 365 days a year and involves so many churches, we are always delighted to welcome a new host church. This means that our next hosting week will be OCTOBER at our own Church House. We will need everyone s help so please put that on your calendars now! SECOND: I am also happy to report that Yvette Jaquet has agreed to serve as Coordinator for Room in the Inn at our church beginning in January Yvette brings both enthusiasm and great organizational skills to the task, and will be greatly appreciated by both volunteers and our guests. She was a great help during our wintry hosting week in February and will be working closely with us again in October. Yvette has the added advantage of having her fiance Michael Ballard our church s original RITI coordinator as her number one supporter! Please welcome Yvette aboard and thank her when you see her in church. I will remain as an active volunteer but believe strongly that this program will benefit from new energetic leadership and ideas. Thanks for all of your help and support of this vital program for homeless women in Buncombe County. Scottie Cannon

5 Tools for Schools Our Ingles Tools for Schools has just ended for the school year. We have had a great year. Your purchases at Ingles have provided us with $ in credit to purchase supplies and equipment for the Weekday School and church. Thank you for your continued use of your advantage card. We will be relinking those cards in September. Be on the look out for the notice in August. Thank you for your continued support of our school. Letter from Sylvia... When Dave s brain cancer muscled in on our joyful family life nearly two years ago, I made a vow to myself and a prayer to God to do my best to take a positive attitude towards what lay ahead. Dave, of course, knew no other but I had preached attitude to Gennie and Sara and now I had to eat my words and live it. I wanted the children to SEE positive every day in the choices I made in caring for Dave and our family. That led me to accept your help, love and friendship gracefully and to trust my heart. Without the help of this community, the church and beyond, I would not have been able to take care of Dave in the way that I did, so completely and lovingly, through to his last breath, at home in my arms and beyond. Your smiles, hugs, food, rides, child care, cards, flowers and your warmth and joy in embracing Dave in your many visits or whenever he made it to church or an event; all this enriched the few precious months that we had left. The long line of love visiting Dave in his casket at home and then at his memorial service touched me more deeply than words can express. I am moving forward slowly, trying hard to trust in God and hold on to that positive attitude because I know that you will continue to be there for us. You have shown to Dave, Gennie, Sara and me, the strongest faith through your love and actions and we thank you with all our hearts. Sylvia Bassett Do you love children? About 90% of all behind-the-ear type hearing aids have T-Coils, and many inner ear digital and programmable hearing aids have also T-coils. Do your hearing aids have a T-Coil? o Don t know If you don t know if your hearing aids have a T-Coil, would you be willing to check with your audiologist to find out?
