Jones Cuffee, Sister Dorothy Miss Desireé U. Jones became a member of the New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville) family on November 3, 2013 through her Christian experience. Desireé, the daughter of Deacon Terrence and Deaconess Alicia Jones and sister of Victoria Jones, is a Senior at Grassfield High School in Chesapeake. Family support for Desireé at New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville) also includes Sisters Bertha Boone, Margie Raynor, and Terry Fritts. Daniels, Brother Mack Her high school activities include being a member of the U.S. Air Force JROTC, playing Basketball, Track and Field, and a member of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and the Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA). In the fall, Desiree will be attending North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC and plans to major in Theatre Communications. Her goals also include becoming a director of films and an actress. In the future, Desireé would like to own a radio station, movie theatre or poetry lounge in New York City. Grant, Sister Alma From the first day she and her family became members of NFBCT, Desiree has been active in youth ministry. She sings with the Steelettes Youth Choir and serves with the Junior Usher Ministry; attends Sunday Church School, Youth, and Vacation Bible School. She enjoys working with the Media Ministry helping to enhance our morning worship services. On September 2015, Desireé was recognized and awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for her service to the Media Ministry of New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville). Her favorite scripture is Psalm 46:5 (NIV), God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. Banks For over 30 years, Brother Clifton Banks (78 years of age) has been a faithful member of New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville) family. Brother Clifton and Sister Velma Banks have been married for 39 years and the parents of three children: Kevin Alston, Clivel Banks, and Johnathan Banks and grandparents of four: Bryson Banks, Kennedy Banks, Ethan Alston, and Peyton Turner. Brother Banks is the brother-in-law of Sister Cynthia Bowser and Brother Reginald Cherry and his spouse, Cheryl Cherry and the uncle of Tyler Cherry who are also members of New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville). Brother Banks retired after 29 years of service with the Federal Government, Norfolk Naval Shipyard (Shipfitter) in Portsmouth, VA. He is currently employed by Sam s Club as a Demonstrator. He likes doing photography and enjoys drawing and music. As a member of New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville), Brother Banks sings with the Male Chorus. His passion for photography has been a blessing for the church and especially the History/Archives Ministry. Brother Banks was instrumental in securing the photos of the New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville) Ministries for the 2012 Church Directory. He has donated numerous photos documenting different church events over the years to the History/Archives Ministry. His favorite scriptures are from Exodus 20, the Ten Commandments and his favorite Christian song, Take Me to The King. What does Brother Banks love about New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville): The fellowship with the congregation and the teaching and preaching of God s word. We thank the Lord for Brother Banks and helping to secure and share the history of the church through his gift of photography. May the Lord continue to shine His blessing upon him and his family. 4 Recognition of High School and College Graduates for 2016 Please complete the 2016 High School and College Graduates Recognition Form located in the church fellowship hall. All forms are due on Sunday, June 12, 2016 and will be collected after the 7AM and the 11:15 AM services in the fellowship hall by the Dr. T. Melvin Steele Scholarship Ministry. All High School and College Graduates will be recognized on the 4th Sunday, June 26, 2016 at the 11:15 AM service.
