2 Hey, guys! Welcome back for another week as we continue talking about what? (Pause.) That s right: DETERMINATION! Let s take another look at that definition. Determination is deciding it s worth it to finish what you started! This is also a pretty special weekend because it s Father s Day weekend! Father s Day is a time for us to celebrate fathers! Every single one of us has a Father who loves us HUGE your Heavenly Father, that is God! I want you to remember that no matter what, you have a Heavenly Father who LOVES you so much! ELEM Maze WK 3 (1) You are NEVER forgotten by God! So let s start today off by worshipping our Heavenly Father! Maze_Worship Maze_We Will Not Be Shaken_Worship Video Maze_You Make Me Brave_Worship Video Maze_Game We can have determination even when we re scared because Jesus makes us brave! And if God is for us, who can be against us! Each week, I ve invited volunteers from the audience to come up and attempt to complete a maze in a certain amount of time. ELEM Maze WK 3 (2) But today, I m upping the challenge! Not only will you have to use your a-maze-ing navigation skills, but spy skills will be put to the test as our contestants slink and snake through the laser maze! Who thinks they have what it takes to defeat this week s amazing maze? Host picks 3 volunteers Okay, here s how it works. Each of you will have 90 seconds to get from the beginning of the maze to the end. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to complete the maze WITHOUT touching any of the lasers.. I mean string not even a hair on your head or a thread from your T-shirt. You can crawl, jump and straddle your way through; just don t touch the string! The person to finish the maze in the shortest amount of time will be our winner and go home with a prize! ELEM Maze WK 3 (3) Let s play! Host leads game Maze_Lesson And we have our winner! (Award candy to winner.) That was incredible! Thanks for attempting today s a-maze-ing maze, kids! I don t know about you, but they made that maze look a little easy. I may have to try it later. For now, let s check in with our TRUE story from the Bible! Maze_Wk 3_Bible Story_Video God has promised all of us that He will help us through our difficult times! 4 In the New Testament of the Bible, we learn a lot about a follower of Jesus named Paul. God used Paul to start a whole lot of churches. Paul really cared for these people who gathered at these churches, and he wanted them to become better followers of Jesus. So he wrote them letters! And many of these letters are found in the New Testament. One letter is now known as the Book of Ephesians because he wrote it to the church in Ephesus. In the letter, Paul talked about the tools God gives us to help us have determination especially when our enemy and God s enemy, Satan, is trying to cause us to give up. In this chapter of the Bible, Paul referred to these tools as if they are pieces of armor that a soldier would wear. God gives us His armor! ELEM Maze WK 3 (5) So what s the Bottom line for today? Maze_Wk 3_Bottom Line_Slide Paul used this image of a soldier fully prepared for battle to create a picture of what God has given us when we face Satan in spiritual battle. Satan would love nothing better than for us to give up when life gets difficult. If he can get us to give up, then we won t be doing God s work and shining like a light to draw other people to Jesus. But, just like we ve talked about the last two weeks, God has promised to never leave us by ourselves. LEM Maze WK 3 (6) When Satan attacks you, God is there, giving you the tools to defeat Satan and to keep shining our light for Jesus. The question is: When you re all suited up for battle, will you fight? God has already fought for you by sending Jesus to die on a cross to take the punishment for our sins! Let s pray and thank God for giving us such amazing armor. Lead kids in Prayer Maze_Announcements Amen. I m so thankful for this message we heard today. Let s respond and put our faith in action as we give our offering and participate in our Family Mission. Galatians 6:9 says Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. In Honor of Father s Day, we are going to take some time and pray for all the dads out there. We ll also pray for those men in your life who might not be your dad, but who love you very much.
