Thanks, Dee Attention Adopt-a-Highway Volunteers It is time for the first cleanup for This is advance notice because the schedule given by MDOT overlaps the time of Easter celebration and our volunteers might want to plan accordingly. Pickup can be done anytime starting April 14 through April 24. The trash bags are on top the shelf over the coat racks. Please leave the filled bags on the shoulder of the highway in plain sight. We can be proud our church has participated in this state-wide program for over 27 years. 3 GOBLES UNITED METHODIST WOMEN On Sunday, May 7 th, we will be displaying the Little Dresses for Haiti and the baby items for women in need. This is an ongoing project for our church. We are collecting: *newborn size hats, newborn sweaters and booties (knit or crochet) *baby blankets- knit, crochet, or sewn *boys shorts size 2T-adult (garage sales are a great place to get these) *pillowcase dresses for the Haitian girls If you have any questions, please contact Deb Siwula Gobles Social Media Survey Thank you for participating in the Media Survey. 5 Gobles Lead Team Minutes Tuesday, March 14, 2017 Because Gobles UMC values serving, relationships, and faithfulness, our vision is: Serving God, Serving Community, Connecting Community with God! MEMBERS PRESENT: Pastor John Brooks, Dennis Hurlbut, Wynne Hurlbut, Jan Westcott, Donna Launius, Lois Wesler, Dee Clement, Nancy Finch, Chuck Grimes, Karen Grimes John opened with Devotional and prayer Motion to accept minutes from the February meeting by Dee, seconded by Jan VCI: Hospitality Team: Debbie, Donna, Lois, Cherie Social Media Team: Dennis, Karen, Dan (meeting March 15 th ) New Guest Team: Terri, Nancy, Dee Mission Team: Diane, Chris MAT: Wynne, Diane Town Hall Meeting with potluck scheduled for Monday, March 27, 6pm. Lisa Batten will be discussing visioning process and values. Discussion on the book Leadership and Organization for Fruitful Congregations. John presented an example of what the one governance model + Ops and Ministry Teams would look like. Ron will come in May to provide training. Would not be effective until after annual conference as it needs to be voted on. Mission: In Diane s absence, Dee discussed doing kid paks for the summer. Working on a grant from Wal-Mart to cover expenses. Dee filling out the application that needs to be completed 90 days prior. John to talk with Diane for further discussion on how often to provide, etc. Worship Design: Changing service again. Offering will be after sermon. Maundy Thursday service at Gobles at 7pm, Good Friday at noon. Sunrise at 7:30 to be held outside weather permitting with breakfast to follow. Gobles/Kendall Choir doing Easter Cantata with Seventh Day Adventist Church, Saturday, April 15 th at 7pm at their church. SPRC: No report this month. Finance: 1) Dennis presented the paid-to-date budget. Checking currently at $10, Ministry shares are paid at 30%. 2) Discussion on budget brought up that a future line item needs to be added for hospitality. 3) Wynne reported that the signs requested by Hospitality team (VCI prescriptions) is $ This will come from the church maintenance fund. 4) Financial Secretary s report: average weekly contributions to date is $1561, needed, $1514. Various savings fund(s) total; $16,841. Six Lanes of Giving for the past month: $5.00 collected for Great Hour of Sharing. Trustees: No report General: 1) Dee reported in Cheryl s absence that she would like to see the Lenten Offering go Crystal Springs as they suffered storm damage to one of their cabins. Need to put announcement in bulletin for the special roll of quarters collection. 2) Dennis still working on getting a charge account at Village Market. Next meeting will be Tuesday, April 11 th at 7:00pm. All are welcome to attend.

6 Kendall Lead Team Minutes Wednesday, March 8, 2017 Members Present: Pastor John Brooks, Joyce Bergman, Jim Westcott, Keith & Cheryl Shaw, Freida Amos, Carol Brill The meeting opened with devotions and prayer by Pastor John. The minutes of the January 10 th meeting were read and approved. The Treasurer reported a CD of $30,000, Savings $2,502.85, checking $ All bills paid to date. The average attendance is 12. The CD at PNC was rolled over to a three-year CD at 1.8% interest. It should earn $60 in The memorial CD is $12, with $4, in savings. Keith reported for the trustees that a new manual thermostat has been installed in the sanctuary that will control the heating/cooling for the entire first floor of the building. John reported for the worship committee that we have begun a new series, Journey of a Lifetime, a Lenten series, which will run through Easter. On Easter Sunday, there will be a Sunrise Service at 7:30, followed by a pancake breakfast, followed by the Easter service all in Gobles. There will be no Easter Service in Kendall. A vote to combine the Kendall Easter Sunday Service with Gobles on a motion by Cheryl and seconded by Jim received four in favor, one opposed, one abstention. Motion passed. The secretaries are now preparing separate bulletins for Gobles and Kendall because the VCI program in Gobles necessitates some differences. The noisy offering for March will go toward welcome baskets. Freida will chair this committee. The income from the April 1 st soup supper will be split 50/50 between the church s savings account and a gift to Jim Sumner in appreciation of his faithful snow plowing and lawn care at very reasonable prices. (This gift was approved at the January meeting). The telephone/internet bill with Charter has increased from $74.97 per month to $ per month. We discussed whether or not to continue the internet service since John is no longer keeping office hours at Kendall. No action was taken. Jim suggested we consider more advertising of Kendall services, such as a large ad in the Reminder. Pastor John offered to create a web site for Kendall Church, and post information on Facebook. He said Gobles church had a new family last Sunday from their web site. Pastor John reminded us that all churches will be required to either do the VCI program, or complete Paragraph 213 from the Book of Discipline, A Process for Assessment of the Local Church. Freida made the motion that we pursue Paragraph 213, the motion was seconded by Joyce. Motion passed. This will probably not happen until next fall, after John returns from school. He will pursue this with the DS. Meeting was adjourned at 4:30. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 10 th.
