9 January 6, 2019 Members of Saturn Road, During the year 2018, your elders have been focused on what Jesus intended for the Church and his vision for his disciples as is recorded for us in the Gospels and the New Testament. Our concern is that, in some ways, we have wandered away from the vision Jesus left for us. God the Father and his son Jesus Christ loved the Church very much. They paid a very high price for the Church. We believe Jesus teachings and his instructions give us his vision. During this past year, your elders and our ministers have struggled together to regain Jesus vision for the Church. Our desire is not to be the Church as the world has come to accept the idea of Church. The Church is not an address. It is not bricks and mortar. It is not a meeting time. It is not a one hour worship assembly where we sing songs, offer prayers, take the Lord s Supper, and hear a sermon. The Church is us, all of us, each of us, all day, every day, wherever we are, in every relationship we find ourselves, in every aspect of our lives. We love the portion of the Church that meets regularly at this place, and we love the times when we are gathered together like we are this morning. We want the Church that meets here to become more and more the bride of Christ as Jesus envisioned in his final days before he gave his life for us and as he now continues to love and care for us as he sits beside the Father waiting for the day he returns for His Church. We ask your forgiveness where we have failed to lead this church as Jesus intended, but we believe you know our hearts and our desire to serve Him. Today we will begin to share with you the Vision we believe Jesus has for us. We have been reconsidering our personal walk as disciples of Jesus, and we intend to ask you to do the same. So, what is the Church and what did Jesus intend for his Disciples? We intend to explore that more with you this year. We hope you will be diligent to study with us this year as we seek to be more the Disciples Jesus wants us to be. The end purpose is this: that the Bride of Christ (the Church, and each of us) is a shining light that draws all those we meet as we walk through our lives to consider the idea of Jesus and what it means to be his disciple and to be a part of the Church. We love you very much, The Shepherds of Saturn Road
