A note on letterhead from White Mills, PA dated June 12, 1978 is written from Dorothy to Mabel Burchard Fischer Grant telling her that this was her great-grandfather s home. Scope and Content: This collection contains two old family photo albums containing the ancestors of Mabel (Burchard) Fischer Grant ( ) of Connecticut. She was the only child of Mabel I. (Sweet) and Ross Burchard and never had any children of her own. The pictures contained in these albums are from her mother s side of the family the Sweets and her maternal grandparents Clayton E. Sweet & Charity L. Manning. Judge James W. Manning married Charity B. Wilder who was the daughter of David Wilder & Sophia Tyler. Among their children was Charity L. Manning who married Clayton E. Sweet. Clayton was the son of E. Sweet Jane A. (Orr) Sweet. Clayton and Charity had three children: Clayton M. Sweet and twin girls, Mabel I. Sweet and Lucy D. Sweet. Lucy married Ligouri Doherty and they had no children. Mabel married Ross Burchard and they had one daughter, Mabel who was the last of the family line. Access: No restrictions Provenance: These albums were donated to OGS from the estate of Dr. William Robert Montgomery Houston, founder of OGS. No connection to Ohio or to Dr. Houston s family could be established. It is presumed that Dr. Houston purchased these albums from an antique store or estate sale or received them as a gift or donation from someone. They are being pulled from the Houston collection since no connection to the family could be established.
