As we take our places in this thy house of prayer, Dear Lord, may we fully concentrate upon where we are and what we are doing here. Fill us with the spirit of worship. 5 Responsive Reading Restoration Hope Job 14:7; Ps.51:10-12; I Peter 2:9-10; Is.64:4; I Cor.2:9 (KJV) Minister: 7 For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease. Congregation: 8 Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground; Minister: 9 Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant. Congregation: 10 But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he? Minister: 11 As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up: Congregation: 12 So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep. 6 Fifty four years of worshipping the Lord and we continue to praise the Lord for His continued blessings. Our theme for this Men s Day is Restoration Hope. Men and young men, again, we have our work before us. The Church needs the presence of men who are godly and committed, and the odds may appear to be stacked against us but we shall prevail. With the Lord on our side we know that we can overcome any adversity. It has been proven in the past, we work well together! To Rev. Marcus A. 7 LADY LAURA J. HARPER Lady Laura is the daughter of Eddie and Yvonne Anderson and the wife of Pastor Robert E. Harper of Christian Missionary Baptist Church. They are childhood sweethearts and have been married for 43 years. She is the mother of two adult children Tammy and Rev. Marcus and the grandmother of Justin and Marcus II. Her ministry at Christian Missionary is with the Youth. She serves as Director of the Youth Ministry, and Sunday School teacher of the Little Warriors ages 3-7. Lady Laura has had numerous jobs but her passion has always been for the youth. She believes that the children are our future and we must teach them the value of God s love and as adults we must live according to God s will before them. She received her Associates Degree in Child Development from Daley College. This degree allowed her to continue to use her God given gift and assist Special Education teachers within the Chicago Public Schools and support students who have severe physical challenges. God allowed her to retire in January 2014 to further the work He has for her. To the women of Christian Missionary, God has blessed us to see another year and celebrate our 54th Women s Day Service. As we celebrate I would like to thank Rev. Alyne Banks for accepting the awesome task of being the Chairperson and congratulate her and the committee for the marvelous job they have done. Pastor Harper Next Sunday School Lesson # 12, God Demands Justice Golden Text: Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother: and oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the strangers, nor the poor (Zechariah 7:9-10). It gave me an opportunity to bond with my Sisters in Christ. Every woman of Christian Missionary Baptist Church helped to make this day a success. A special thanks to Sis. Ruth Gillie, Sis. Vera Harris, and Chef Dwayne Robinson (Linda Hicks' son). "Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things God hath prepared for them that love him. THANK You!!! Rev. Alyne Banks Peter is the disciple who denied Christ three times, but he was the only one who got close to Jesus to get caught. Peter is the disciple who impulsively cut off Malchus ear when the lynch mob came to arrest Jesus, but he was the only disciple who came to Jesus defense. Peter is the disciple who sinks in the Sea of Galilee, but he was the only disciple who walked on water. I believe there are two different types of people in the world: creators and criticizers. There are people who get out the boat and walk on water and there are people who sit in the boat and criticize water walkers. Often times our complications are often a byproduct of blessings. If the boat had not been tossed around by waves, Peter might not ever experience walking on water. Often times, we are required to take uncalculated risk for the Kingdom of God. God has destined us to be creators, innovators, and tenacious in our actions. We need to stop watching from the sideline and get in the fight. 11 Rev.Rome K. McEntee city of Chicago, Illinois to Sherri McEntee. He attended and graduated from Perspectives Middle Academy with honors on May 30 th, He currently attends Perspectives Leadership Academy, and will be entering the school year as a junior. He is also an advanced student at the high school; taking all classes above his level, consistently maintains a GPA. Surprisingly, Rev. McEntee has accomplished a lot in his 16 short years of life. Rev. McEntee was raised in Christian Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Robert E Harper. Every 2 nd Sunday in the early years, Pastor Harper would have, Rapping With the Pastor and Pastor Harper would ask, what do you want to be when you grow up? and swiftly Rome would raise his hand and say, A Pastor, and that s how you would know he had a desire to preach at an pure age of 4. He gave his first public sermon at the age of 9, at CMBC on March 31 st, Rev McEntee was licensed to preach on July 25 th, 2010 and was ordained on November 30 th, 2013 at Greater Straightway MB Church. After leaving Christian Missionary for 4 long years, Rev. McEntee reinstated his membership and was accepted to the Ministerial Staff on the last Sunday of August of He is now the youngest associated minister Christian Missionary Baptist Church has on its roster of ministers. His initial sermon as a CMBC Associate minister was given Nov. 30 th, Rev. McEntee often tells people, My purpose is to make a statement in the young adult community that you are never too young to live for Jesus 24/7 whether it s preaching, praying, or taking time out to read the bible God has a plan for me to reach the youth today, so that they are ready for tomorrow. Rev. McEntee seeks to fulfill the destiny that God has in store for him which is to keep preaching his word and helping his people, especially the youth to prosper spiritually. There s no time to waste, the future is now! 6
