Assignments will explore shape/form, texture, value, unity/variety, perspective, figure/ground, color, and time translated into twodimensions, while helping students begin to understand the conceptual possibilities of photography University of Utah Salt Lake City, Utah

Students learn how to respond to light using their camera s shutter speed, aperture, iso, flash, reflectors, white balance and spot meter. Students also learn about how to communicate through imagery, form and content University of Utah Salt Lake City, Utah Advanced Photo Studies - ART4710 This is the course objective : This is an advanced photography class. You are expected to have a working knowledge of black and white, digital, color and alternative photography. This class will concentrate on aesthetic and conceptual capabilities of the medium and the development of a body of work that is focused on a personal direction Salt Lake Community College Salt Lake City, Utah Collection Development - FASH2410 Prereq: FASH 1505 Intermediate Sewing, FASH 1220 Fashion Buying & Management and FASH 2100 Draping Fundamentals. This course is for second year students. Students make an initial selection of color and fabric, develop design ideas, and determine the fashion direction of their collections for the Raw Couture Fashion Show & 2013 Salt Lake Community College Salt Lake City, Utah Design Processes - FASH1900 This is a class that I proposed & developed. Here is the course description : This course is designed to move students through different design processes. This class is about risk taking & big thinking when it comes to designing. This class is about creating a space where creative play can happen in constructive ways. There will be lots of drawing, thinking, gathering, discussing,

6 photoshopping and moving ideas onto the dress forms. This class isn t about improving your sewing technique; rather it s about gaining insight regarding the things you gravitate towards, about what you find interesting, and about how you move that interest onto the body. Think about this class like this, we are making art, not so much fashion present Salt Lake Community College Salt Lake City, Utah Bridal and Evening Design - FASH2280 This is a class that I developed. I have a extensive experience creating bridal and formal gowns. I used that experience to organize this course. This class works through the design process for bridal gowns & formalwear. We start with the gathering of ideas, transforming those ideas into concrete ideas, measuring, cutting, draping, flat pattering, sewing, fitting, altering patterns & finishing present Salt Lake Community College Salt Lake City, Utah Corset Making - FASH1950 Students learn different components and techniques for making a corset including; boning, spiral boning and placement, grommets, bias binding techniques, bias making tools and hand sewn finishing techniques present Salt Lake Community College Salt Lake City, Utah Tailoring - FASH1700 This class is designed to teach students classical tailoring techniques. There is an emphasis in fitting, making sure that the finished product properly fits their client s bodies. There is another emphasis on handwork, hand stitching, shaping, basting, and pressing present Salt Lake Community College Salt Lake City, Utah Draping - FASH2150 This is a class that I developed. I have draping experience and I used that experience to organize this class. This class works with the idea that a student can create fashion without a commercial pattern. How do you make a garment without the instructions already in existence. We start with small projects and work into a fully designed garment. We start with the gathering of ideas, transforming those ideas into concrete ideas, measuring, cutting, draping, sewing fitting, altering patterns & finishing Salt Lake Community College Salt Lake City, Utah Intermediate - FASH1505 This class is second of a succession of 3 classes. The idea behind this classes is to further the knowledge and experience in sewing construction. We focus on pattern preparation, pressing, pinning, cutting, sewing and finishing, techniques. There isn t much focus in fitting Salt Lake Community College Salt Lake City, Utah

7 Portfolio - FASH2450 This is a class that I developed. I saw a need that wasn t being met, especiallya a digital need. This class is designed to gather and organize all the work done within the school career of the student. We have dialogs about how to speak about their work, what it means to be a fashion designer, what is could mean for them to have to question their morals and ethics. At the end of the semester, students will have a resume, give away cards, business cards, hard portfolio, digital portfolion on a cd and a blog. There is a digital emphasis. Students learn to use photoshop as a tool to clarify their work. Students also learn how to most effectively use their digital cameras Salt Lake Community College Salt Lake City, Utah Instructor Project First I was asked by Mary Burbank from the Education Department at the University of Utah to team teach with her. Mary spearheaded a program between Salt Lake Community College and the University of Utah. The program was designed pipeline pre-service teachers from SLCC to the University of Utah. My job was to introduce teaching issues through art making; to move students through a guided thought process and investigate ways to communicate those issues visually University of Utah Salt Lake City, Utah Multimedia Graphic This class has an emphasis in electronic media.
