The people of the United Methodist Church MESSAGE FROM PASTOR BETTY What a wondrous time is spring, when all the trees are budding. The birds began to sing; the flowers start their blooming. That s how it is with God s love, once you ve experienced it; you want to sing, its fresh like spring, you want to pass it on. UMH#572 PASS It ON, verse 2 As we celebrate the renewal and revitalization of spring, may we also recharge our commitment to Christ and our church. This is a good time to examine your faith journey; and ask, as John Wesley did on a regular basis of his flock, How is it with your soul? Do you need some revitalization? Are you spending time with God - in prayer and in study? As our summer gets busy, and some of our programs take a summer break, I encourage you to continue to meet together in Christian study, fellowship and service, and find ways to pass on that wondrous love that we have received through Christ our risen Lord. This summer we will be finalizing the last stages of turning the parsonage into an office and conference center. We will also continue to work towards the revitalization and renovation of our church buildings. The hope is that the final touches can be done on the kitchen with a new hot water heater, a closet that encloses the hot water heater and mini-blinds on the windows. Once that is completed, we will move on to the next phase of the renovation plan. June 13 June 17 we will be holding with the goal of spreading the Gospel to the children in our community. There will be many ways to help support this effort we will need teachers assistants, kitchen/snack helpers, and most of all your prayers. Watch for signup sheets and information on requests for help and for donations. June our lay delegates and I will travel to Burlingame, California for the Annual Conference for the (Con t. on Pg.3)

2 Community United Methodist Church Page 2 Staying in Touch Fern McMasters moved with her daughter and son-in-law to California. She is now in a long term care facility in Orangevale, California. Carol Woodward is spending time in Southern California with her son while she recovers from her medical challenges. Audrey Allum is back at her daughter s, Connie Rosachi, home. Cards and letters can be sent to the following addresses: It s almost summer and it s time to plan our VBS HEROES OF THE KINGDOM June 13-17, a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday thru Friday and Friday Evening VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL We are looking for volunteers to help in many different ways. Kids get ready for exciting adventure learning about the Heroes of the Kingdom. Please call Aileen , to register your kids. Space is limited so don t wait. First, she wanted to be cremated, and second, she wanted her ashes scattered over Wal-Mart. "Wal-Mart?" the preacher exclaimed. "Why Wal-Mart?" "Then I'll be sure my daughters visit me twice a week"

And "Great to see you" Or "Where have you been? A hug can soothe a small child s pain, And bring a rainbow after rain. The hug! There s just no doubt about it, We scarcely could survive without it. A hug delights and warms and charms, It must be why God gave us arms. Hugs are great for fathers and mothers, Sweet for sisters, swell for brothers. And chances are some favorite aunts Love them better than potted plants. Kittens crave them; puppies love them, Heads of state are not above them. A hug can break the language barrier, And make the dullest day seem merrier. No need to fret about the store of 'em The more you give, the more there are of 'em So stretch those arms without delay I'm giving you a hug...today! Whether we carry a $ or $30.00 wallet/handbag the amount of money inside is the same; Whether we drink a bottle of $300 or $10 wine the hangover is the same; Whether the house we live in is 300 or 3000 sq. ft loneliness is the same. You will realize, your true inner happiness does not come from the material things of this world. Whether you fly first or economy class, if the plane goes down you go down with it... Therefore.I hope you realize, when you have mates, buddies and old friends, brothers and sisters, who you chat with, laugh with, talk with, have sing songs with, talk about north-south-east-west or heaven & earth... 7 Community United Methodist Church Page 7 Finance Committee Report The Finance Committee, with the approval of the Administrative Council, has established the following Designated Funds, which are not included in our general fund budget: Fund Current Totals Camp $ Capital Improvements $ 2, Fiji Mission Trip $ 2, Memorial $ 1, Pastor s Discretionary $ Parsonage Fund $ 3, Renovation Project Fund $ Special Mission Projects $ 1, $ Vera Martin $ 1, Youth Group $ Thank you very much for your donations! Our 2016 proposed general fund budget is based on receiving an income of $47,014 for the year. This means that we should have had an income of $15,671 by the end of April. Our actual income received was $12,852. Thank you very much for your generous donations! Our expenditures from the general fund were $11,949 leaving a balance of $903.
