1 Knowing What Belongs to You - The right of ownership. I want to talk about the right of ownership this morning for a few minutes. Turn with me to Luke 13: (Read these verses.) Satan bound her, infirmity, satanic bondage. It wasn t God trying to teach her a lesson. She ought to be healed = Daughter of Abraham (Genesis 15) Covenant, Jehovah Rapha the Lord that Heals. Notice, this woman was bound for eighteen years! Then, Jesus called her to Him and told her, Women you are loosed. Notice, Jesus did not say, women you will be loosed, or woman, I m going to loose you. Jesus said women you are loosed from this infirmity or bondage. She did not know she was loosed. This must have come as a shock. It came as news to her. It was a revelation. This is a by-product of the Word is faith. Romans 10:17 tells us, Faith comes by hearing, and by hearing the Word of God. I. Jesus spoke the Word. Jesus spoke the Word to this woman. She heard the Word, and the Word came as news to her, and came into her heart. She heard it, believed it, and received it and what Jesus said it would do for her. This all came by Faith. Faith comes by hearing, hearing by the Word of God. This was something she did not know. This is all significant. Let s tie the 12 th and 13th verses to the 16 th verse. This was not something Jesus said, I am going to do, in verse 16. When Jesus brings Abraham into the picture and ties this woman to Abraham, Jesus is talking about something that is done already on legal grounds. [NT:4982 sozo (sode'-zo); from a primary sos (contraction for obsolete saoz, "safe"); to save, i.e. deliver or protect (literally or figuratively): KJV states it this way: heal, preserve, save (self), do well, be (made) whole.] Jesus s relationship with Abraham was a legal one; it was a covenant relationship. A legal agreement! We don t normally use the word covenant like they used to. But lately it is again being used. We have what is called a restrictive covenant sometimes at places like condos, retirement communities, or planned

2 communities. These agreements that everyone in the community/place lives by and under are called covenants, and to live in that community, you have to agree to follow these certain rules and regulations. (Give examples.) What Jesus is saying to the woman is that she has certain legal rights. Woman, you are loosed. He wasn t saying that her freedom was something that didn t exist until that moment. He was telling her that it has always existed, since God s covenant with Abraham. She is a daughter of Abraham, and of the seed of Abraham, and therefore, she was covered by the covenant. But she had no clue. She did not know she was free. She did not know she was loosed. She did not know this bondage had no hold on her anymore. She had to hear it. So Jesus told her. And when Jesus told her, truth comes, light comes. And she takes steps of faith. And when hands are laid on her, she received, and is now the proud possessor of healing. Hebrews 11:1 - Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (NKJV) The Amplified Bible reads this way: Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]. (AMP) A Title deed is a legal document and a covenant is a legal document. Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (NKJV) There are rewards in pursuing God, these rewards revert back to being legal. Everything God does in dealing with man is bases of covenant.

3 II. On the subject of faith, there are 2 parts. The believing part, which is of the heart; and the saying part which is the lips. Romans 10:9-10, Mark 11:23: Faith is a two part thing: believing with heart and confessing with your mouth. Heart-Mouth connection. Faith comes by hearing, hearing by the Word of God. God s Word affects your heart. When you hear the Word of God, then what is born in your heart is faith. I think about all the years I ve been saved and sitting in services and hearing the Word of God taught, and faith rise up and lights go on. I listen to all that I didn t know before, it wasn t mine when I found about it; it had been mine all the time. The women with the spirit of infirmity, it wasn t hers when she found out about it, it was hers all the time. III. I bring out faith in conjunction with covenant because there is difference between ownership and possession. Ownership is based on legality, it based on who paid for it, who put down the money. Possession is practical, experiential and is determined by faith. Brother Hagin when he was alive, if he said it once he said it hundreds of times, confession brings possession. I did not say confession brings ownership. Ownership is different; we just looked at it. Another way to say this is this way, what I confess I possess. I can t confess ownership into existence, because it is legal matter. All the faith and confession in the world can t make what is yours mine legally. Ownership is determined by the price paid and by whom. We know that Jesus paid the ultimate price. It benefits us to know what He paid for. Jesus is telling us this women, being a daughter of Abraham, was an heir to something. She was the seed of Abraham, she was heir

4 to being loosed from her infirmity; she was heir to healing. If she was heir to healing then Galatians 3:29, says, And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. NKJV. You are heir to healing because you re just as much the seed of Abraham as she was. If healing belongs to one seed of Abraham, then it belongs to all the seed of Abraham. Galatians 3 wasn t talking about seeds plural, but seed meaning Jesus Christ. And now that I m in Him and He is in me, we are one in spirit and everything that is His is mine. Ownership: there are a lot of things in this world that are Jesus s because He paid the price, and there are a lot things in this world that are mine because Jesus paid the price. I m in Him and He is in me, so I own them just like He does. Ownership is an important thing to understand, because when you know own something, it changes the way you look at. If you hear someone talk about how God wants to heal you and you don t understand that healing belongs to you and that it has been paid for and then given to you, you will approach it differently than you do when the revelation comes that it is yours, it belongs to you, and the blessings of God belong to you. You re not being pious when you say things like, I do want to be presumptuous or greedy about the blessings of God, your not pleasing God. A lot of people think that and think they are being holy and pious when they say things like that. But I submit to Heb 11:6 - But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. NKJV The Amplified Bible states it this way: Heb 11:6: But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out]. AMP

5 Diligently = ekzeetoo; compound word to seek out, search for, investigate, scrutinize, to seek out for oneself, crave. We re not just trying to heap up blessings, but it doesn t make sense to have them stolen from you. It is about ownership. Ownership is determined by who pays for it, possession is by faith. Isaiah 57:13 When you cry out, Let your collection of idols deliver you. But the wind will carry them all away, A breath will take them. But he who puts his trust in Me shall possess the land, And shall inherit My holy mountain." NKJV It didn t say faith would cause him to own it. It says faith would cause him to possess it. Ownership has already been established legally. The thing about walking by faith and our responce towards God is, we have to rightfully know what is ours. So by faith we can rightfully possess something. We have no business to go after something that s not ours. I have no business taking something from someone if I don t own it. Ownership and possession work together and have relationship to one another; but they are not the same thing. Ownership is based on legality, it is based on who paid for it, who put down the money. Possession is practical, experiential is determined by faith. If I had the winning lottery ticket and never checked the numbers I would own it the money, but not possess it. If I found a lottery ticket that someone lost I would possess it, but not legally own it, because I did not pay for it. But if someone bought it and gave it to me I would own and possess it. Because someone paid the price for and ownership is based on legality of someone paying a price for something.

6 You can own something without possessing it and you can possess something without owning it. The best is to own it and possess it. And when you own it and are in possession of it, your attitude towards it is one of guarding and protecting it. You re not just going to let someone come a take it from you. I have no business demanding things from anyone that are not mine. God never told us to do that. Everything the Lord tells to believe for, He is telling us to believe for because it belongs to us. We have rights of ownership In Christ Jesus. And when you know that, it causes you to receive faith in a new light. When you understand the rights of ownership, it s not difficult to have faith for it. And that faith is a tenacious faith that doesn t give up easily and doesn t say well, I missed it. That kind of faith says, that s mine, I don t care what anybody says! It s mine, and I intend to possess it. It s mine is an ownership reference. It doesn t mean I possess it. If it s mine, I own it; and if I own it, it s mine. Ownership is determined by the price paid, possession is determined by faith. What I confess I possess. Confession brings possession. She found out she could have something that belonged to her. She found out that healing belonged to her. She had some steps to through. 1. She went to Jesus. 2. She went in faith. Steps of obedience. When she came into the synagogue, she did not possess healing although she owned it. She didn t even know she owned it. Her steps of faith enabled her to leave the synagogue that day an owner and possessor of the healing of God. The same seed of Abraham that I m looking at this morning, whatever the seed of Abraham owns, you own also because you are the seed of Abraham. The promises the Word of God are made to the seed of Abraham. Every promise is owned by the seed of Abraham, but they are not possessed by the seed of Abraham. This is why you have to study to show yourself approved to God.

7 This is one reason people struggle financially: they really don t understand what belongs to them. What belongs to you? The wealth of the world belong to you? Well we need to qualify that. Does the money in MY pocket belong to you? No. But it is part of the wealth of this world, right? But when you make a general statement, in a sense that is right. We use it, and are stewards over it, but when we leave this world we leave it behind. We are not eternal owners of the wealth of this world, however, it is said in Duet 8:18: God gives us the power to get wealth. That is something I ll have forever. I ve got it by the right of ownership; the power to get wealth, not only to pay my bills, but to support every good work of God. To be a blessing to people. To build churches and reach the lost and enjoy a good lifestyle myself. What s mine is the power to get it. The power to get is not the wisdom or shiftiness of the world to steal it, or embezzle it, or to cheat someone. It is the power to produce and create it. The Bible says God gives us witty inventions Proverbs 8:12. It s mine. The power to walk in health is mine, it belongs to me. And peace belongs to me. Joy belongs to me. The gifts of the Spirit are mine, the fruit of the spirit are mine. They re all mine. IV. Our words cause us to possess or not possess. What we say affects our ability to possess. It does not affect our ownership; it just affects our right to possess it. Caleb said in Numbers 13:30 Let us go up at once and possess it. What gives them the right to possess that land? Because God said I give it to you. Joshua chapter 1 says the land I give you is a good land. If you re not sure it belongs to you, then that is why the faith to possess it doesn t work like it should. Because of your uncertainty of ownership rights. God told Moses everywhere your sole shall tread. He gave it to Abraham, Caleb said let s go get it. The crowd went with the 10 and in chapter 14. All murmured, what they said. Where did they say this in public. Verse 28 read say unto them have you have said in my ears.

8 They were not praying. They were complaining publicly. They did not think God was listening. But He was. What they said is what they were going to get. John 20:24 Thomas was not with them. [READ] The point here is that Jesus heard what Thomas said. Called Him faithless. Who was Thomas talking to? His friends, he wasn t alone communing with God and airing his frustrations. Jesus addressed the situation. 2 Kings 6:8 Elijah and the Syrians. God heard what he said in his bed chamber. How does a prophet get his information? From God! God heard. What you confess is what you possess. God is always listening. It is not a matter of saying the right words in church, or around you friends, or when someone is around. God is always listening. They that put their trust or faith in God shall possess. Isa. 57:13. Your voice is your address in the spirit realm. Psalm 103:20 Ownership and possession: we own because of who paid for it, but we possess by faith.
